cool, I'll pm you once I get my itinerary / dates figured out. :fonz:

Planes out from Japan is unbelievably full. There is a week long break in Japan next week (The Golden Week). I guess the weak yen is not deterring them

Oh my, that Clematis pair must the most beautiful chukka I've seen, a perfect marriage of form and minimalism. I would have chosen some strange grainy leather, like buffalo, elephant or hippo, to show off the uppers. I wonder if British makers lose Asian customers for all this talent coming from the Far East.

Yeah I say these come close to perfection. I'm not usually a fan of chukkas (even sleek Bespoke ones), but these look goood

Clematis stocks hippos too, I kinda dig that suede w/texture look

Cross post from the G&G thread

G&G Bespoke Sole repair in Japan

Documents a sole replacement job of a G&G Bespoke (not mine). Done by RESH in Tokyo

G&G Bespoke. Personally, I would have sent it back to the UK

The owner asked for the soles to be replaced.

    Gutted heel

    Taking apart

Recreating a G&G sole (but with J.R. soles)

    Waists are hand stitched

    Completed

Definitely not G&G Bespoke waist, but they did their best

The whole thing including rubber toes and heels, cost ¥24,990 ($250 USD)

RESH is my cobbler to go in Tokyo. They're service is blazing fast (30min wait for a heel replacement or a toe steel attachment)
Though I'm not sure how long this took for them

Havent seen much G&G bespoke waist out in the wild but I do believe the beveled and fiddle back waist is blind welted at the waist. And from the sole taken apart picture it does look to be blind welted at waist. While RESH resole is just sewn together it seems.

Did they sew over the existing welt holes?

I wish I could find something like that in NYC (30 minutes for heel replacement or a steel toe plate)

    They use the existing holes.

Yeah, the G&G repair I posted above took only 2 weeks for pickup. That is fast. If you send it back to G&G (or in fact any other repair shops in Japan), I assume it will take much longer.
