How are currency conversions handled? Is there a way for us to calculate exactly how much of our respective currency we need to deposit for a specific item?

Hello! Great question! Depending on your payment method, the currency conversion might be a little different. For example, if you are depositing via PayPal, we follow PayPal's rate. If you pay via debit/credit card, we follow Stripe's rate. If you send an international bank transfer, then it is dependent on your local bank's rate. You can read it all on our Payments page here.

We know currency conversions can be confusing, so let us know if you have any other questions!

Hello! Unfortunately, we do have the policy that we are unable to negotiate with sellers if the item is less than 100,000JPY. We understand your frustration and apologise for the inconvenience.

Hey guys! We’re back this week with something a little different. We’ve been talking about Japanese streetwear for the past few weeks, but wanted to discuss some of our favourite footwear brands today instead.

Hender Scheme

Based in Tokyo, Hender Scheme uses raw leather to make their shoes. This means that the shoe will change with use, creating pairs unique to each owner.

Here are a few of our favourites currently available on their online shop.

Shoes Like Pottery

As the name suggests, these shoes are made just like pottery through a vulcanizing process. Each shoe is baked inside a kiln! The vulcanized soles are soft, flexible and comfortable. The shoe’s fabric is also hand-sewn and assembled by hand, so every pair is unique. While they look similar to Converse shoes, the durability and comfort make the price difference worth it.

visvim

It is difficult for us to talk about Japanese footwear without bringing in visvim. A cult classic, visvim shoes are on the pricey side but have a strong following. Personally, we’d recommend trying to find some second-hand pairs on sites like Yahoo Auctions (for example, here is what the prices look like for FBTs on the site). The Japanese typically take wonderful care of their belongings, and it is likely many of these second-hand shoes are like-new or in very good condition.

Either way, here are a few of our favourites from their online web store.

What do you think? Was your favourite brand here? What is your favourite Japanese-branded shoe?

Hey guys! Have you seen Yohji Yamamoto’s 2019-20 Autumn/Winter Collection yet? It was announced in Paris last week. This collection has fewer clothes with words on them, and instead has quite a number of embroidered designs. Here are a few photos from the runway!

Check out more photos from the collection here. (Note: Website is in Japanese)

What do you guys think? Any pieces that you think you’ll be adding to your wardrobe?

Hey guys! Have you heard of a Japanese menswear brand named Facetasm? The style is meant to be very "Tokyo street culture", and I thought I'd introduce some pieces here that I quite like from their online store.

As always, if you would like to purchase anything, you can easily order them through ZenMarket by copying and pasting the item URL into the search bar. ;) Please let me know if you need any help!

Out of curiosity, are there any lesser-known Japanese brands that you guys are fans of? Let me know!

Hey folks! Have you seen the new Yohji Yamamoto x Doc Martens that is supposed to drop today in Japan? It's their revamp of the classic derby, giving it double monk straps and a less rounded top.

It's retailing for JPY64,000. Currently available in-store, but might be on YY's webstore.

Any thoughts on this?

Are there any Gundam fans in the house? We have exciting news! UNIQLO is releasing a Uniqlo x Gundam collection in March 2019 to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary.

There will be 12 different designs in total. What makes it all the more exciting is that there are also 2 exclusive Gunpla models available if you buy the t-shirts from participating outlets.

Who’s going to pick these up? I’m definitely grabbing at least one…
