I'm in Japan now on business and visiting relatives. I used to live in Japan for a few years, but I never appreciated the Japanese brands other than Uniqlo and Muji (this was all I could afford at the time) I discovered Edwin jeans as well and it became one of my favorites. In recent years, I stared looking into Japanese brands more. This past year I bought stuff like Maker's Shirt, Men's Melrose and I want to be more, especially denim.

What are some recommended brands that people have bought? All my relatives buy either Uniqlo or stuff at Jusco (if you know that store, its like buying at Mervyn's?)

I'm going to the store Tomorrowland, Isetan, OIOI, interested in especially hearing from members that live in Japan.

Let me second BEAMS, especially the BEAMS+ boutiques, which carry a lot of stuff produced in collaboration with classic US makers (including Alden, Woolrich, Lee, etc.). Also keep an eye out for great New Balance models unavailable in the US; you can find them at small shops in Shibuya and Daikanyama, as well as in J Press and other brands' boutiques within the high-end department stores.
