Japanese Shoes

One of my first introductions to fashion came in William Gibson’s Book “Pattern Recognition.” While, years later, the book’s plot falls a little flat, I really appreciated the way Gibson described the Japanese appreciation for foreign aesthetics: they buy in wholeheartedly, refine, and produce higher quality, almost fetishistic reproductions. It’s staggering, and Japanese produced Western shoes are no different. Exceptionally well made and perfectly proportioned, their an ode and a progression all in one.

So, That Question…

Yea, this thread is interesting, and I’m featuring it as much because I’m surprised it existed at all than a particular interest in seeing more posters post in it. Now, I’m not going to provide any descriptions (I think these posts are Google-crawled, after all), but if you’re curious just click above.

Black Tie

Let’s come together and complain about the horrific developments in the world of white and black tie: apart from traditional Southern Cotillions, and European men’s club presentations, what else is there that’s even appropriate for wearing black tie in a reasonable way? What a horror show. Or something like that.

So let me get this straight. To qualify as a "hot topic" a spam post from a week ago, the first activity for a thread in three years, is enough?

And people say SF isn't dead!
