Hello people, I received two shirts from Jantzen today. Very well made as usual. They were cutaways with negative tie space (meaning the two flaps of the collar overlap a little when buttoned .... inspired by H&K cutaway collar). One of the shirts I ordered is this one: [IMG] Plain Cotton #21, Super Fine Light Blue Plain Cotton, 140's, Sea Island Cotton The shirt I received turned out rather different from pictured. The shirt I received felt like Sea Island Cotton no doubt, but the shade of blue was significantly darker and even greyish (steel blue). I was wondering if anyone ordered a shirt with this fabric before and if they received something similar? Thanks, gregory

Gregory, how much is the negative tie space?

Also, mind if I ask if Riky replies to your email recently?

I have not emailed Ricky for some time. He takes between 1-4 days to respond, in my experience. I have called him at his shop on several occasions The shirts he made had slightly more overlap than pictured below (This is the picture i sent to Ricky): [IMG]

Gregory, mind if I ask how long it took for this order to arrive? Ricky hasn't been replying to any of my emails nor confirming the order.

    Hi gregory,

I ordered a shirt in that same fabric last week (w/ the British spread collar). Can you post a picture of your shirt so I can get an idea of what to expect?

    Thanks

I don't have a digital camera actually. But I searched for pictures on the net, and the shirt resembles the following color except slightly lighter and slightly more greyish: [IMG] I have e-mailed Ricky about the matter and will update you when I hear back from him.

I ordered a shirt in #21 and also received a shirt of the color you described.

I am pleased with the shirt. But that is because I was hoping it wouldn't be as light as it appeared on the website (whereas you appear to have hoped for a lighted blue). I have some H&K shirts that are about the same color as Plain #21 (a bit less gray, however) that I really like and so was glad to see the Jantzen shirt approximated those shirts. It really is very hard to gauge colors accurately from the Jantzen site. The whites all look quite gray (although the descriptions say they are "snow white," which is true, for example. But, that said, #21 was described as light blue, which it is not -- it is really more of a medium blue in my opinion.

Thanks for your reply. You are quite right. Another thing that upsets me is ordering white shirts that turn out to be off-white (yellowish), or ordering shirts that look like they are flat-finished but finding out there are some (girly) patterns woven on them.

Because of the relative uncertainty in fabric colors (i.e., they are not true to their on-screen color), I have been very conservative in my color/fabric selections. I.e., for white shirts, I will order only those that say snow white; I'll order patterns that are well-represented on-screen and no crazy stripes. So far I have not been disappointed. But lack of color/pattern certainty is the big downside of a $38 shirt ordered over the internet.

Have you guys asked Ricky for swatches when you've ordered? I did this the first time and he sent a huge bag full of them (over 100 or so). I also got one without having to ask on my second order. They have tags with the style # on them so you know what to look for online, and generally can be a big help when choosing your next fabric.

Good for you. When was this? I asked him to send me 5 swatches once but he didn't.
