I hope everyone is well and safe. Many of us around the world are in some form of social isolation. Maybe not dressing like we usually do. It’s nice to see some of the threads around here continuing, but the WAYWRN thread has slowed down some. In hopes of us continuing our sartorial discussions, I thought we could focus on some of our favorite things. This week, let’s look back to simpler times. What was you favorite outfit from Jan 2020? I’ll post mine in a bit.

I’ll share two.

1/02

My first day back to work in the new year. I have since had the sleeves lengthened. I have a small collection of suits after years of thrifting. This one has a nice vintage feel to it. I especially like the pants.

I love this combo of textures: tweed, corduroy, OCBD, knit tie. I also like the colorful purple cardigan and socks. My favorite part is the black watch slippers. There first and only outing. I wanted to put rubber soles on them before I wear them again. Who knows when that will be now.

Great idea for a thread.

From Jan 7th:
I love this burgundy bouclé jacket - a bold grey windowpane, and a subtler blue check. This look stands out to me because I think it might be one of my best uses of navy trousers. The saturated shirt and grey tie all feel really balanced.

From Jan 22nd:
Low contrast looks have been enticing to me lately, and this outfit has lots of texture to offset the lack of contrast. Mostly dark tones and what I feel are interesting colour pairings - especially the tie with everything else.

Great idea for a thread, especially when I’m already starting to get bored out of my skull. My favourite fit from January was actually a casual one. Just felt that textures and colours fell nicely into place on this one.

As Sir Edward Grey, the Foreign Secretary, said in August 1914, "The lamps are going out all over Europe, we shall not see them lit again in our life-time". Now it seems as if the lamps are going out all over world.

Good idea @An Acute Style !

January for me was marred somewhat by Mrs K having to undergo a fairly major operation mid-month. But life, as it does now, had to go on...

On Monday 13th I wore a new to me, immaculate cashmere blend overcoat by sometime Livery Tailors to HM Queen Elizabeth, Horne Bros. and which I had bought the week before:

On Tuesday 21st I wore a winter favourite in the form of heavy tweed jacket by Mulberry:
