James bond fashion

I am a fan of James Bond movies, particularly the older ones with Roger Moore. Part of my fascination is, of course, with the fashion in the movies. I have noticed some of Roger Moore's shirts in his movies (ie The Spy who Loved Me, The Man with the Golden Gun) look to have particularly large collars. I was wondering if anyone has noticed this, and if anyone knows what kind of shirts he wore. I know that Pierce Brosnan wears Turnbull and Asser shirts in his Bond movies. But I don't know what Roger Moore wore.

The big collars aren't so much a James Bond thing as they are (were) a '70s thing. Look at some old magazines or retro clothing sites (or the movie Boogie Nights), huge collars were all the rage in the '70s. I don't know of any modern shirtmakers that emulate that style.

Funny, I remember the older ones as having Sean Connery. And were I you, I'd emulate Connery's style over Moore's...

I like the outfit Sean Connery wore in From Russia With Love and Goldfinger by Anthony Sinclair. Very classic in details but modern in cutting indeed.

Pierce Bosnan (maybe not his own fault but his assistant's) basically ruin the Brioni's he wore in all his Bond movies. Poorly knotted ties (the tie knot changed from scene to scene even though Bond was still in the same suit, indicating the scenes were not shot on the same day), tasteless cufflinks, poorly fitted shoulders and trousers. Brioni should send some specialist to fit Bosnan better.

Moore's suits, at least, were made by Cyril Castle, on Conduit Street. I'm not sure if Castle made shirts, as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if Moore had his big-collared shirts made by Turnbull and Asser, in one of their, ah... experimental periods. If you want that style these days, I'd check out places near you that offer European-style clubwear. You'll find shirts in a riot of colors and patterns, with huge collars, often closing with 2 or 3 buttons... EDIT: Interno 8 might have just what you're looking for, if you can find them anywhere near where you live... Nick.

Your post display certain interesting points.  Could you please elaborate on Mr. Brosnan's Brioni suits regarding shoulder fitting and trousers?  Why, in your opinion, were they done poorly?  And what would be considered as 'tasteless' cufflinks (I don't remember seeing cufflinks with joe-boxer smileys or the union jack on them)?  And how would you compare his Brioni suits to his Campagna suits in Thomas Crown?  

I think Brioni did send a specialist to fit him (a picture of that occasion was hung at Saks' Brioni corner for some time), and in the case of Thomas Crown, he actually flew to Milan to get fitted at Mr. Campagna's penthouse (as GC does not travel, at least not for a mere Hollywood star).

Are they the Tom Ford TF19 sunglasses? The only place I could find them selling right now was Siteforsight.com. They are authorized retailer with the only exclusive to the TF19. Any ideas?

In "Tomorrow Never Dies" Brosnan wears the most incredible overcoat. It was double breasted and darker than camel hair. It would be great to know who made that. Sorry to hijack the thread.

I thought I read that he was wearing Oliver Peoples sunglasses in Quantum of Solace

theres actually a lot of conflicting information out there right now. apparently, it is Ford branded glasses that are being associated with the film, however, these share many similarities to the OP Airman model (and some subtle differences). Some of the screenshots of QoS taken while filming confirm the TF details.
