I've yet to hear a tailor who is capable of bespoke, let alone make a fully canvassed, suit in Jakarta. Some local friends suggested a tailor on Gajah Mada St that has been around for generations.

On bespoke, the last I heard were my dad's tailor in Surabaya who learned his trade in Shanghai (passed away already) and a retired one in Bandung.

Let us know if you decided to try Hariom.

I note their prices for a suit start at $205 (US), which is so low that it elicits some suspicion.

Might be worth checking out for shirts: starting price $57 (US).

Do you have the details of the tailor on Gajah Mada St?

is $205 low for Indonesia? Their cost of living is alot lower then US, so it might not be so bad but yes I do agree that it is quite low. They apparently run their operations 24/7 and for an extra fee they can churn out a suit from the ground up in 24 hours. Is that even possible?
