True story: A really good e-friend of mine usually takes pics looking straight at a closeup camera. I saw him in person and said "Just so you know, if you must look into the camera, look far into the distance, and it'll help prevent you from looking cross-eyed." He took off his sunglasses and looked me square (or actually, not so square) in the eyes and said "I have an astigmatism, so sometimes my eyes are crossed."

I felt terrible, because I really like the guy, so I backpedaled and said "I have an astigmatism too; one of my eyes wander a bit, and it's probably going to get worse as I get older..." and then I realize I sound even more like a jackass, because the guy is older than me...

Reminds me of a Frasier episode where they are going to see a crazy-eyed uncle.
Niles says "which eye are we supposed to look at again when we talk to him?"
Frasier says "the brown one"

True story: There’s a guitar player with a lazy eye called Pete Thorn who’s toured with a few famous bands, and upon going to Eddie Van Halen’s house and meeting EVH, Eddie looks at him straight away and says “which one should I look at?”
