Do blue lenses like that not hurt your eyes? I’ve found that any sort of blue tint in a lens really hurts to look through. (Brown lenses are my comfort zone)

Speaking of blue lenses, has anyone tried blue blocking lenses? Do they have any effect on you?

Almost all of my lenses are blue blocking. Any current transitions lens, and most Rx lenses these days have blue blocking built into the lens itself. I have at least one set of Rx glasses with Crizal Prevencia and they were maybe very subtly warmer than without the lenses, but in general it doesn't noticeably impact anything. With newer lenses that isn't even very noticeable.

However newer science is suggesting it doesn't make a big difference to begin with

Blue lenses do not, cannot, accentuate anything, but they do not filter (as much) blue light. Those do filter harmful RVs, which is what matters.

Blue light filtering lenses are good indoors when you want to prepare yourself to go to sleep, e.g., when using the computer at night. So if you have trouble *falling sleep*, they might help. They do nothing for other types of insomnia.

Blue light blocking lenses should certainly not be used during the day since the whole point is that the blue light (might) help you stay awake, which presumably you want to do in the morning. They should only be used in the evening, if at all.

Yea, I came across that page. I also saw this CBC video below

I use f.lux on my computer at night, which does seem to make a difference in how I feel at night, but not sure if the eyewear works the same way

Correct. Everything is subtractive, but by subtracting less blue than other wavelengths, you are still left with an image that has stronger blue wavelengths than others. I imagine is it likely just my particular vision preferences/biology, but I feel much more at home behind a brown lens as opposed to grey, blue, or most other tints. If it makes any sense, brown almost feels like the "most neutral" lens for me to look through, even though I know physically it isn't.

I would, actually, like to sleep through the morning, afternoon, evening, and straight into 2021
