Well, I for one am very happy to read this! I thought my modeling years were behind me, but if the much sought after look of the day is endearing imperfection, I believe I can serve it up with my own special brand of Cancer Chic! In fact, I am rocking the cancer look, and not only can I wear JMM eyewear well, if Jerome ever decides to lend a Native American twist to ostomy bags, I’m his man!…Call me!

🤓🥴😉😅😂
I like the cut of your jib! Boss.

Hey @FlowableFill, checking back, how did you proceed with the hinge screw in your wife’s Nokona? I actually got the screws replaced in one of my Reserve Comanche. Took it to my local dealer (Georgetown Optician), the rep whom I referenced earlier, who changed out the proprietary star screws in his Sexton, did the same here, no charge. (These flat head screws are from Cartier.) If the hinges become loose now, no problem, I have plenty of small screwdrivers to save the day :)

It was also an illuminating exchange with the rep...
  • The French eyewear company Anne & Valentin uses a similar star-shaped screw as some of the older JMMs, and makes a specific screwdriver that can also tightens the JMM screws.
  • If I were to replace the screws on my own, the rep warned me not to remove the arms themselves, just the screws themselves and leave the arms in place. Apparently there are tiny washers in the hinge to provide a snug screw/arm fit; they can come out easily, get lost, and are just hard to put back. I still have two more JMMs with these star screws, I’ll be sure to take them back to Georgetown Optician for replacements.
I’m quite pleased with the result, as this Comanche is my first and favorite of my JMMs; having loosening screws that I could not do much about on my own really dampened my enjoyment for wearing it previously. Let me know how your situation is going!
Glad this worked out for you @Easily Amused - since you were the enabler who made me get Comanches I took a look at mine - they appear to still have ‘stiff’ movement in the arms and still feel tight but I’ll keep an eye on this. I wonder if the torx screwdriver that came with my LFs will work to tighten them if I need to. Don’t you have some LFs that you could have used the screwdriver for your Comanches?
I got some metal frame sunglasses off eBay that came with prescription lenses fitted and the original tinted lenses loose inside the box Thought it would be easy to loosen the screw and swap out the lenses but it’s a tiny Phillips head screw and as with glasses they are so often made with ridiculously soft metal I’m scared to have a go myself in case I strip the head of the screw. Will have to wait till I can get to my dealer and see if they can do it there.

This feller is epitome of rugged handsomeness. Look that strong squared off jaw. That great hair. Trim and in shape. I tell you what. If any of you all saw a pic of my mug, you’d run for the hills. I’m not cappin as you young people say nowadays.
I have seen this bloke in some other brands. He is model by profession.

To have such a great hair at his age seems more like hair transplant done and some work done on his face too. Could be good genes but I always go by all that glitters is not gold.To not have soggy or puffy skin at his age seems questionable when your profession is to look good.

These colab shades they make are wallet killers, good grief
Where did you find them? I couldn’t find them on the site.
Personally, I’m more a sucker for the simple and subtle looks, I’m not huge on the fancy arm designs. Definitely pretty, just not my personal style

First world problems: I forget how lightweight the smaller Schindlers are compared to the brick like Fellinis.

I'm glad I've other pairs, because I don't think I could wear Fellinis as opticals 12-16 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Hahaha, the pleasure is all mine @Thin White Duke, and I trust you’re enjoying wearing your Comanche! It is an ideal blend of JMM’s lovely details, but with a subtle presentation.

If you do become inclined to switch the Comanche screws, definitely a dealer adjustment would be the safest route. I would hope that the custom screwdriver from your LF would also work on the proprietary screws, but also maybe confirm that with a dealer. Cheers!

The Alanui Topangas - wow almost $2300 smackers. I understand there’s handwork involved with the beads, but same with shoes and suits.
