I noticed that JMM launched multiple remake themes of Julien and some of the other models. And some models seem to be perpetually issued under different names andmaybe with slight differences or size differences. I could be wrong about this, in which case please correct me.

Although it would suppres the resale price, they could proably sell out some of the original modles pretty quickly if they chose to re-issue.

But - what is the most difficult, hands down, case closed rare JMM model/colorway to find on the 2ndry market (and would probably making killing on a reissue)?

I find this Brut colourway particularly attractive in combination with the Spruce lenses. Here on the Vendome.

I would guess at either one of the very early iterations - as the older a frame is the more difficult to track down, combined with one of the more severely limited releases.

E.g. I have Dealans in turquoise of which only 15 were made.

Cool. Warby Parker is touting its new exposed wire core design.
I had a couple of those before they went heavily into brick and mortar shops. Got them from their shop in Greenwich Village, New York. They have a plethora of styles and colours - a strategy that seems to have been emulated by a couple of other brands popping up in US malls but they just feel very lightweight and flimsy to me. I guess once you get your hands on that tasty JMM 10mm acetate nothing else measures up eh?

Am I the only one getting reeeeeeeeeeeeally bored with the parallel lines engraved on the exposed wiring?

IMO they should either do the three dots for those who like a more restrained frame or geometric / native engraving for some visual interest. The parallel lines show a real missed opportunity to display some creativity. JMM is gonna get leap frogged by all these other brands jumping on the style but doing a better job of the wire core.

Was half-expecting they were going to use them like lines on sheet music paper and toss in a few notes on them as easter eggs for the Jeff or Herbie.

Funny. Randomly thought about this on my quick walk home from the cafe. Was wearing Fellinis with the “half” exposed core and thought I like the style better than the typical parallel lines but they could make a “full” version of it.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
