Terrible news if true, but does that mean a price increase to make up for the loss not covered by insurance?
I doubt it, the inventory in 1 store won’t make much of a dent to warrant a price increase. Plus I think stock inside of stores like JMM’s is covered under warranty.

Sorry for posting in this thread, but I saw it’s the most active one, and I hope someone here can give their opinion.

I recently bought a pair of Matsuda M3023-SG sunglasses and noticed something unusual when cleaning the lenses.

The lenses are made of CR39 material with a gradual tint. When I clean them with a microfiber cloth and Zeiss Lens Cleaning Spray, I see a faint yellow-brownish residue on the cloth. However, there is no visible damage to the lenses themselves.

I’m wondering if this is just leftover residue from the manufacturing process since the glasses are new, if this is harmless staining, or if it could be a sign that the tint or coating is damaged by the cleaning product.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Should I just go back to the time-tested dishwashing liquid and water method?

PS: I noticed that the contents of the Zeiss spray I am using are identical to the ones in the Zeiss spray branded for glasses use.

As someone with a house just outside an evacuation zone, this is a pretty stupid and insensitive comment.

You too, eh?

Yep... that's the running gag around here lately though, that everything is making the prices of JMMs go up.

Use Sparkle, it does not contain alcohol and it works great.

Hi... Just received the Heywood :)
I must say that pictures don’t do it justice at all; in person, it’s truly a sculptural frame.
It closely recalls the Fitzgerald, which in turn draws inspiration from the Ray-Ban Wayfarer.

I’d like to point out that, as usual, the measurements on the JMM website are completely inaccurate. For instance, the frame width is 151mm, and I’d classify it as WIDE, as it’s as broad as the Torino, Tramonto, Molino 55, etc... I have included some comparison photos with Torino and Tramonto.

An honorable mention goes to the kit; we're on par with the best LF productions... everything is meticulously crafted, even the opening and closing of the flaps is magnetized. By the way, the box is really very large and heavy.

With this Heywood, quality control has done an exceptional job... (I must say, it's really hard to find a perfect JMM), specifically, it's a perfectly aligned frame to the millimeter that requires no adjustments and has no acetate swirls.

Now all that’s left is to wait for a sunny day to do it justice by wearing it!

Enjoy!

About the fit, regardless the fact that measurements are often inaccurate, the total width is only one factor, you have also to consider the size and the shape of the lenses.

In this case, for example, although the frame extends sideways, the lens looks rather restrained, so the fit would be actually more medium than wide.

Curious about your impressions, of course.

Technically JFK wore the American Optical Saratoga, but yeah the wayfarer shape is there. I love my Fitzgeralds, so may look for a pair of the Heywood to compliment.

This pretty much echoes all my thoughts about the Heywood. Yeah, it's basically a Wayfarer but it the most beautiful Wayfarer I've ever worn. It's a really fantastic frame.
