I have a pair of Molinos in Army and love them. Don’t see Army discussed much, seems to have been overtaken by Rover in terms of greens
I read somewhere that the greens are not great sellers. (Can't remember where.)

I looked at a pair of Fellini in Surplus (solid army green) recently; it was tempting, but I think I'll wait on a different green for me.

Slight tangent re underrated colours but there are some which look good under the bright lights of the website photos but aren’t quite so vibrant when you see them in person.

I wouldn’t mind getting something in Rover but they usually seem to come with yellow gold wiring which I don’t like. So maybe I’d say something like volvox is underrated as it came with silver wiring and so far only been on a couple of frames. I somewhat regret not getting volvox Ashcrofts.

Interesting - I have a pair of Moscot Hyman in a really cool translucent emerald green. I can’t believe that would be a slow seller if something similar was used for JMMs.

I always prefer muted over bright colours, so Army is certainly the better colourway for me, even though I have to admit that Rover is quite attractive, as it looks more subdued in person.

I think that Jerome said this during his interview with Dean Delray.

Those green Moscots are sharp.

As mentioned here, many of the dark shades can look black unless the lighting is just right.

Now that I’ve seen @DorianGreen talking about those seed Fellinis, next silly question: what is the pair (or pairs) that got away?

Hopefully not everyone will say PCH lava or vintage tort Ascari. 😝

Mentioned this a while back, but I found someone reselling a pair of Yves in Noir 3 (what can I say, I’m a sucker for the frame) but I hemmed and hawed too long over the fact that he put in clear lenses and didn’t have the originals.

Still, they were a decent price. I think he sold a pair of Yves in Tempest too. Same deal though— clear lenses, no originals.

I usually have the opposite problem where I buy a frame with a less than ideal color scheme, only to see a couple years later that what i really wanted originally is released. DAWG DANG IT!

I hope this happens to me with the Ascaris, while I do think the leopard can look very look with black lenses (we’ll see) what I really want is hickory or rootbeer.

Good thing with JMM is that you can sell and not lose much money.

True about resale, but being an old curmudgeon, I’ve never sold anything online. I just can’t get over the security risk of dealing with unknown folx met via the World Wide Web.

In my daily monitoring of the World Wide Web, I just saw an article on CNN with a picture of Justin Timberlake (from Nsynch). You guessed it…he was wearing JMM (Jacques Marie Mage).

Good question!
As above I’m sorta on the fence about volvox Ashcrofts. The frame may be my favourite shape of the entire batch but for some reason I just wasn’t jazzed enough to get them in volvox when they were out. Maybe I’d got a few others around that time and was reluctant to shell out again for a pair that aren’t that far from the aforementioned emerald Moscots I already had.

In the early days of JMM before I knew about them they did Dealan in maraschino - translucent ruby red - which I liked. Would love to get some now. Then came Diamond Cross Molinos in Marlboro which looked really tasty but they were 55s and even though I’ve never tried that size the standard Molinos fit me perfectly so I suspect the 55s would have looked huge. Wish they made more in that colour.

Some other grails I got after the fact - the Turquoise Black Optical Dealans I got last Autumn were a great find and have been getting a lot use over the summer.

Couple of other pairs I wish I’d got a few years ago before the prices started climbing!!

does anyone have experience trying to contact patron of the new?
I picked up something from the labor day sale but was sent the wrong item. I've tried calling both stores during their advertised business hours. One goes to a disconnected dial tone and the other to a message system as if they were closed.

Got a response back from them, just needed another day. Definitely recommend using email. Sounding like the frames I ordered were nowhere to be found when they shipped the order despite being in stock and then showing out of stock after my purchase. Asked if they could search again but if not thinking I'll keep what I got since the Enzo noir x isn't hugely different from the saber to the casual person. If the noir x's had silver instead of gold hardware I wouldn't even be hesitating.
