I prefer the combination with Olive lenses over that with Turquoise ones.

Currently with Amber lenses, as seen on the Corniche.
Interstingly I had swapped the lenses on my hickory Taos to light brown ones similar to the teak Hemmings but I’ve been thinking about swapping them back to the original ones. I was taken aback by the mix of warm and cold colours but it’s grown on me. And the original colour is very swimming pool-like and nothing screams “warm” like a swimming pool in the summer (next to one as I’m typing this).

Also, I think I’ve bought one of the last indigo Taos (let’s see if they ship). I really like the combination of indigo acetate and pink lenses (much better than blue lenses in other indigo models IMO), and Taos is my favourite frame (this would be my third one after hickory and sunkiss) but I wanted the indigo Ascaris as that frame has been in my wishlist forever. I just want them to release the Ascaris in hickory or rootbeer and then I’ll be done and disconnect from the Internet. For real, as I mentioned recently I only really like the older models, my collection is Dealan, Enzo, Fellini, Taos and Plaza, and I’m getting rid of the Dealan (too feminine on my not-so-masculine face) and Plaza (very nice but very classic and I already have Fellini and Enzo, all three in black).

Well, I've just ordered my first pair of JMM, Fellini in Noir 7. Assuming I like the fit, where is the best place to source Rx transition lenses these days?

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your first purchase! I’ve been a fan since way back (among the originals) and on this bulletin board since oh about page 400, but I still remember every one of my purchases. Trust me when I say that I see many more purchases in your future. Welcome to the brotherhood!

JMM doesn't offer a prescription program like MJ does. If you want different lenses, you have to get them from a 3rd party, at which point the quality depends on that 3rd party.
Any chance you have suggestions on 3rd parties to look at for quality Rx lenses? Transition, in particular would be great.

I’ve used 4 different places to get prescription lenses. I need progressive lenses so the cost is a little higher than single vision lenses. My prescription is very mild.

1. My local shop, who sells JMM. Pricey, about $600-$800 without insurance. Close to $400 with insurance. High quality, custom fitting, great customer service. Lots of options for tints or custom lenses.

2. Costco. Around $200, but not always willing to work with JMM thick acetate. Quality good, limited options for tints.

3. Zoomer Lens. Around $350, works with JMM. I’ve used them for online purchases. You will need to know your pupillary distance and segment height. There are online tools used to measure these, EyeMeasure is one that seems accurate. Seems like good quality. Marco (owner) gives good customer service.

4. Replacement Lens Express. Around $200. Another online purchase. Works with JMM. Quality good. Good customer service.

Overall, I haven’t noticed much difference between all 4. My local shop is my go to, but I’m limited to one pair of frames and lenses per year due to my insurance. If I buy more than one pair per year, I’m using Zoomer or another shop for lenses.

Feel free to message me with questions.

Hope this helps.

Pour one out for my Dealan 53 in Argyle that got stolen from my car last night
Wow. Just…wow. I’m sorry they got you. That really sucks. If I were king, these animals would be hunted down and arrested. They would be placed in a work camp and punished for a minimum of 25 years.
