Nice - we must have similar tastes. Your Oceanics are similar to my Cortez. I wrote above that I’m steadily weeding out a lot of my rarely-worn non JMMs but I do have a pair of Oliver Peoples West Cabrillo which are similar to your Dealans with clear chunky acetate frames and blue lenses . I got them before discovering JMM but I love the combo (with titanium temple ends) so I reckon I’ll be keeping these. View attachment 2224999
Really nice too!. You have a great collection of sunnies of different brands. Have you ever experience IC Berlin?. I love them too, something different but worth the price; strong, thin, light, flexible and with great lenses.

Cheers matey - not familiar with IC Berlin but will keep a look out although when niche brands aren’t well distributed it doesn’t help as we NEEEEEEEED to be able to try them on in person. Some brands get round that with generous return policies but you know that doesn’t come free so someone (us mug customers) are paying for it one way or another. I had that issue with my Leisure Society frames. Really took a liking to that model but every alleged retail store said “we can GET them but we don’t have them in stock!” - eventually took a chance on delivery from the LS website and thankfully that time it worked!

I still have several Ray Bans, Randolph Engineering and Moscots among others that I wear less and less these days as my JMM collection grew, so a lot of those will end up on eBay etc. when I get round to weeding them out.

I remember trying on Oliver Peoples ‘Jaye’ in their shop on 5th Avenue. Love at first site so I went home and raked around on eBay and found some cheaper than the retail shop. A sort of short framed wayfarer … a bit disappointed that the ‘burgundy bark’ colour was almost black not the dark translucent red tort I was hoping for. Soon after I discovered JMMs and the OP Jayes just feel so flimsy in my hands now I’m used to the 10mm chunky acetate. I’ve barely worn them as they’ve been eclipsed by my JMMs. If I’m picking a pair to go out with I’m almost always leaning towards the more expensive ones, partly due to quality, partly due to the idea “I paid $800 for these I’m damn well gonna wear the sh1t out of them” so unfortunately the lesser / cheaper models are now gathering dust.

See? A bit Jeff / Ashcroft-ish in a shape I like but they don’t look red at all and if wore them to rob a bank the witnesses would just say “the bloke was wearing black wayfarers”😎😆

After reading this thread for a month and looking at way too many sunglasses i bought my first JMM. The black fade challenger was sold out everywhere in EU but i found them on twelvesixtynine and they offer delivery duty paid shipping to germany. I didnt know that was a thing but they were even a little bit less expensive than the german retailer. I feel like they fit my head pretty good and they are way lighter and more comfortable than i expected. In a few days i will get to try on the dealan samoa, not sure if its the right frame for me though.

Welcome, nice frame and good fit.

Edit:
And yes, JMM is more expensive in Germany in comparison to USA and the rest of Europe.

Shouldn't be more expensive in Germany than the rest of € countries. The models have a RRP. Another thing is if the retailer overcharges.
Last month I was in a greek island (Corfu) and the local retailer (Apres-Ski) overcharged all the models. For example Sandro costs there 915€ (where in other European countries RRP is 820€).

It shouldn't, but it is. Tartaras in Greece is more expensive as well. Sites in Italy are cheaper, Seen in UK too.

The optician I was mentioning belongs to Tartaras. But the prices there are even more expensive than Tartaras. In UK I kinda understand because it's a different currency.

What's your opinion on adjusting JMM frame DIY with one of those heating machines? My Mollino still doesn't sit properly on my face and keeps leaving red marks on my nose bridge.

Yeah so no. With such an expensive frame, I would be hesitant to do so unless you really know how. I wouldn’t want to muck up my frame by overheating it.
