Sigh.. I got my package today with 3 frames in it:

* Vendome Camel
* Julien Dahlia
* Molino Ocre

I was very very certain that I was going to go with the Vendomes in camel, adding in brown sunglass lenses. They are such a beautiful frame but they appear pretty orange on my face, but they also just look huge! I think they look so bold right now because of the demo RX lenses.

I never wanted the Dahlia color for the Julien, nor the Molino. I just wanted to see the Julien shape and Ocre color. My ideal would be Julien in Ocre ! Miraculously, Visionist just stocked a random Julien in Ocre a few days ago.. So I picked it up!

Now my dilemma is the Vendôme Camel.. it's heartbreaking to think to send them back. They are such a unique and classy piece. I think I have 7 days to return them, but it's not enough time to get a brown lense in them to see their full potential. No idea what to do.

The budget says I can't get both the Vendôme and the Julien haha. What to do. Hopefully the Juliens come fast and I can then do a direct comparison.
Vendome in optical versus Vendome in sunglasses are completely different looks. In sunglasses, they are relatively easy to pull off without looking too bold. In opticians, lots of factors have to be perfect or they look like clown glasses

This! Face shape is everything for Vendome as optical. Not so much with sunglass lenses.

Don't know if it helps: I have the sun Vendome in Camel with the original light yellow lenses and they actually look very bold. I think that they would look great with medium to dark brown lenses.

Those are just so bold it in that near optical tint that it would be hard to take this person seriously. Would be better as darker sunglasses
I think it works quite well on that feller, and for fat-headed folx like me. Also, there are a lot of chickadees out there who wear absolutely huuuuuuuge frames and get away with it. I’m not trying to be a rablerouser; it’s just my opinion. I can see where you’re coming from too.

Man, Jerome has been a busy bee with lining up product 12 months out.

JMM website has now amended this to July. This provokes a question. I’ve never ordered a ‘pre order’ with the JMM website. Has any of the JMM thread OGs ever done this? Was the delivery date more or less accurate? And crucially, did they take your money immediately or around the time of shipment? I hate the idea that someone is making interest off my dough for months wild I sit there stewing over the lack of instant gratification for my purchase!

I've personally not done a pre-order, but I'm quietly confident they take your moula upfront.

They take your money, and make you wait. In some cases, the estimated delivery date can be delayed up to a month or two. I would stew over how badly you want it if the dates extended out to July or November. That availability you're seeing on their website ends up being a shared pool with retailers at some point. My speculation is that it is staggered so that their direct e-commerce site gets first dibs for a few weeks to get maximum profit margins. Once a few weeks has passed, Retailers get access to the new models and colorways to where they can ask for allotments at below the retail price direct to consumers see.

I have preordered my first Enzos years ago. Had to pay in advance, waited a few months only to be told that it would be a few months more. At which point I cancelled the preorder. Of course, shortly after the preorder was sold out and was kicked myself in the butt. I'm not sure how I ended up getting a pair anyway, I think I bought the Yves instead and then followed up with the Enzo in the in the next NOIR version.

Admittingly, the upfront cash layout was a lot less in those days with the prices significantly lower. But it seemed to be a lot of cash back then, probably because I wasn't used to spending almost $1K on frames as I am now :(

Yeah, you pay up front— and even then the release could still get pushed back another couple months. Same thing happened when I pre-ordered my last pair of Yves, which was a little frustrating.

On the flip side, I pre-ordered them before the most recent price increase, so I managed to get them a little cheaper than they were at release.

If you’re worried about them getting even more expensive, now might be the time to lock in.

That’s the biggest issue: order now at MSRP or risk a price jump. With how frequently and severe the price increases have been, you’re almost certain to pay more. JJ (Jack the Jerk) is really sticking it to the people who are allowed him to play make believe as an American rancher.

I bought two pairs in pre-order, Standiford Olive and Aldo Volvox, if I remember correctly, and had to pay when I placed my order (understandably, it's the game's purpose) and I also had to pay salty customs duties, when I received my purchases. Later I bought another frame (no pre-order) directly and payed no duties, it seems to be standard by now.

Would I buy in pre-order again? Most probably not, unless for a frame I love and most likely to sell out very soon. Was tempted on the Enzo Goldstone and the Devaux Prismatic, but decided that I don't love them enough (I bought the Enzo Tan instead).

The big advantage to wait for the actual release is to have the possibility to try the model on, besides the chance to have it at discount sometimes.

Pre-ordered the Hemmings in Bloodstone back in the summer. Full amount was paid upfront with an anticipated delivery for September. Delivery was changed to December and then to January. It appears they are being delivered tomorrow. I note I reached out to JMM in September, December, & January for updates

I received my Hemmings Teak in September already from an Italian shop.
