Don’t get much action with my JMMs. Was at the grocery store last week and a guy said he liked my LF Acoma (not that he knew the brand) - said they looked Hollywood. Guess those two concepts can be consistent. 😂

I was in Seattle wearing my Fellinis one time when I saw a dude picking up a box of donuts from the shop while I waited for my order. He had on JMMs but don’t remember which model (had the signature exposed wire temple). I’m definitely not one to initiate contact with strangers and hesitated to do so but at that moment felt a little emboldened by our commonality. I said I liked his JMMs (said the acronym rather than the full name), but by his look I caught him by surprise and off guard as his reaction was more like what the hell are you talking to me for and get me out of here pronto as he barely acknowledged my statement. He acted more like a prick if you ask me and had that look. That’s why I hesitated. Should have trusted my instinct not to say anything. Ah the things we remember…

Would anyone be interested in trading a pair of Mishima (I believe in Agar but I'll double check) for a pair of Fellinis? I had a pair of Fellinis that I lost and I almost never wear the Mishimas.

Well obviously he didn’t know what you were talking about using acronyms. What you should have said was “I like your Jacques Marie Mages (JMMs) - they are okay (OK) with me!”

Not gonna lie, I've been in this thread since page 1. :bigstar:
Wow. Just…..wow! Yeah so no. That statement is not even MISinformaion; it’s DISinformation. I went back to check, and the two longest-active members here are RegisDB9 and Troika since pages 1 and 3, respectively, so kudos to those fellers. Truly remarkable and something of which to be proud. I really don’t want to get into a p***ing (pissing) match with Hoo Dog about who has been a fan longer because we should all be friends here, but I’ve been pretty humble in saying I’ve been around since oh about page 400 when, in all realities, I’ve been a fan and consumer since way before page 400. My first purchase was back in early 2020. That’s before this here bulletin board even existed. That’s pretty darn amazing, as I’m sure everyone will agree. With all my respect, I humbly ask that we focus on other more pertinent issues on this bulletin board. LOL (lots of love).

I don’t see JMM (Jacques Marie Mage) much IRL (in real life), but if I did, I wouldn’t approach to make a comment. Too risky. Too many crazies out there. We live in hostile times, which is why I prefer my online friends.

Well that settles it… @troika as the last remaining OGs there can be only one. Meet me outside JMM, my weapons of choice are old metal Rayban mirrored aviators and Miami Beach salt water
This comment wins the award as best bulletin board posting so far in 2024. I’m bookmarking this one in case I decide to do a 2000 page celebration.

Seriously though, props to you for being here since page one. I wish I had been more computer savvy to have been involved since page 1. (I was already active in the brand back then). I just didn’t know, and now there are some who don’t take me as seriously as an OG (original gangster).

Cheers to you!

Does anybody know much about how JMM operates in the wholesale market? It's something that has always interested me about them because I used to work in the eyewear industry and I often wonder how they allocate such small numbers of products to stores. Is it very much a case of first come first serve or do they limit the amount of stores they sell to to keep a level of exclusivity about the brand?

In all the years i owned JMM… ive worn 18 different models out in the wild.. and not a single compliment 🤔😂 maybe im just really unappealing … or unapproachable 🤣 I don’t count gallerists, or opticians… yes they have complimented my glasses but i think we were discussing out amongst the public…

Amongst the public situations- I did encounter someone wearing dealans and they smiled back at me, i was wearing my Quentin's… someone was staring at me when i was outside the movie theater wearing my 1948s. Never said a word to me just stared 😅..oh and i was behind a real jerk in line at a shop, he wearing Hemmings… if you’re on this board, lol sorry but sheesh what a pri** … but yeah jokes aside no real compliments…it is cool when you encounter fellow JMM enthusiasts.. i love that I don’t see many folks out and about in JMM still makes me feel a little special inside 😄

If you seek external approval, you'll always be disappointed.

One time I was wearing nothing at all, and all the peasants on the side of the road clapped and clapped.

My guess is both.
The nearest dealer to me in Tampa complained that he’s at the end of the rep’s calling schedule so he never gets the very exclusive new releases like LFs. He knows JMMs will always sell so he just gets whatever is left over but if a new model comes out that I’m interested in or a hard to find model I know it’s a waste of time calling to see if he has it in. There’s also a limited network of stores who stock JMM. Some have more buying power eg over in the Miami area Edward Beiner has a chain of shops with a good variety in each. They also did a collab exclusive to their chain in marine blue. Didn’t get them as they were almost black to my eyes but I do have collabs made with Black Optical and Ottica Tuscana which also had exclusive cleaning cloths so I’m sure shops like those are at the top of the list.
