Are there any problems for a feller in the USA ordering from mondello? Is there a problem with customs or shipping or anything I should be weary of? 20% is tough to pass up. Looking to order tonight. Need STAT responses. PATYIA (please and thank you in advance).

Please please. Need help from my JMM style forum family about how customs/import works for an international JMM purchase from mondello1962. ($692 price + $56 shipping = $748 total).

Mondello takes care of customs. The price you just quoted is the total you'll end up paying if shipping to the US.

Unless this is a new development, I don't think this is correct. I had to pay duties on my Rawlins that I purchased from Mondello.

In my experience, customs duties are applied to any imported item valued at over $800 USD on arrival. Rawlins would definitely trigger duties since it's priced over $800, but frames costing $748 should not. YMMV, so take with a grain of salt

I had purchased a Wagram a few months ago, and there were no customs or import duties. Maybe there is a certain threshold in price before additional fees kick in? I would say keep in mind that the total came out to less than $600 USD.

This whole customs thing is so dawg dang confusing! I’m reading about it and can’t make heads or tails of it. Is it true that if the value is less than $800 then there are no duties?????

I don't know if there are no duties under a certain amount, technically, but it may just be that anything under a certain value doesn't get looked at unless there's something jumping out at customs. Truth be told, I have no clue.

This is a duty implemented by the U.S. Customs and Border on imported goods that are valued above USD 800 (approximately MYR 3720).

However, duty will be exempted for e-commerce purchases that are under USD 2500 (approximately MYR 11625).

The import tariffs vary between 0% and 37.5 %, with 5.63% being the average. E-commerce purchases exceeding USD 2500 will have a flat tariff rate of 3%.

It's worth noting that textiles are an exception. Duty will be incurred for goods in this category valued above USD 250.

Really cool. I've thought all the LF jewelry looked great but just can't justify the price tag.
I am no SWI (Southwest Indian) historian being an Aussie, but I do often buy the rings, cuffs and pendants. The offerings from true SWI artists like Sunshine Reeves, Darrell Cadman and Aaaron Anderson for example are far more exotic, creative and authentic than any of this JMM branded jewelry which just doesn't seem to cut it for the price in my view.

I'm not familiar with any of those artists but I do have a couple of pieces from other Native artists and a Fernando Benally ring on the way right now 😂 I do agree, though: the price vs actual value is just off with the JMM jewelry and while I find it to be unique in a way that I like, I certainly can't speak to authenticity.

The true beauty of SWI jewelry lies within each artist's craft and self expression, but the JMM stuff – even if made by a true artist – is wide of the mark and a mere attempt to garner it's own self image in a spectrum that it does not belong. I'm sorry if this offends anyone

Thanks for all the quick responses. I’m going to do some soul searching to figure out if I’m going to order or not. I’ll back into my self imposed exile in the meantime. Bless you all for the help

Australia has a similar system where it states anything over AUD$1000 will be charged duty, but I have purchased and brought in so many frames well over that amount and have never been whacked, but maybe it's just sheer luck.
