Holy crap it’s true, I got my sunkiss Taos a couple of weeks ago for €725 and they’re €820 now, WTF.

Wow. Just…wow. I just took a quick peek. I will now officially declare that the prices are absolute insanity. Pure. And. Simple. There is no justification for those prices whatsoever. Material, labor, and a fair profit margin givers a price far below those MSRPs. This is greed, and I won’t partake.

These price increases need to stop! Like right now! 32% increase in less than two years is horrid! Is there someone we can send a letter to? Can we circulate a petition? Someone at JMM needs to know how this is affecting their fans! They can’t just increase prices like this without giving an explanation! I’m so stressed out by this! If there’s a future frame that tickles my fancy, I won’t be able to justify the cost! This is wrong and unfair, especially to fans like me who have been loyal. I’ve been on this forum since oh about page 400!

I don’t really think a 32% price rise in two years is particularly crazy in our inflationary environment, especially given the brand has basically become known in the past two years. What’s crazy, however, is the price rise paired with what seems like triple supply - they are pumping out wayyy more glasses now than before - seems like there’s a new drop every week.

All and all it means it’ll be better to buy these second hand as prices in the second hand market plummet. This will put some demand pressure on JMM but it seems like there are enough people willing to pay higher prices still, less concerned with resale (including myself btw, and many of us on this forum) - so it will work itself out

Yeah I don't particularly care about protecting my resale value - I buy frames because I like them rather than as an investment. Regarding supply, though, it is disappointing to see SO darn many releases, and SO many collaborations that really aren't that exciting when you know there will be another one next week. I think JMM would do well to keep collabs and new frames in the pipeline for longer and be more choosey with whom they collaborate.

This is the part that irks me more than anything about price increases. I don't really care about the limited edition nature of their glasses, in fact it's kind of annoying to find an older color you like only to see it's gone, but they do use the limited nature to justify their prices. With new models seemingly dropping more often and more colorways popping up at 300+, it is harder for them to use that as price justification.

The rarity of a frame is based on two factors: the number of frames produced and the number of people interested in purchasing those frames. Both are increasing.
