Jacket tightness

I just received my new Trovata blazer (size small) and it's just a bit too tight in the front of the shoulders. I can raise both my arms fine but it tightens up a bit. I can't quite give myself a hug because it becomes too tight. The jacket and sleeve length are perfect so I'm wary about getting a medium.

As of now, the jacket is definately wearable and not too tight. I'm just worried about it not fitting if I gain any upper body size since I work out a few times per week.

Would a tailor be able to let the shoulders out just a tiny bit? Should I just wear it and hope it stretchs out a tiny bit?

Shoulder fit is destiny, so size accordingly.

It's made out of cotton twill.

The shoulders fit perfectly on the tops. I guess that would mean the shoulders are the right width. It just seems like the armholes are too small maybe because they fit tightly in the front where my rotator cuff would be if that makes any sense.

I'll take a picture of me wearing it and post it up here so you guys can get an idea of the fit.

It sounds too tight. Buy one that fits your chest and shoulder, then take up the sleeves. It's much easier that way, and the jacket fits right.

yea post a pic.. the cotton twill might stretch just a tad enough to make it more comfortable. I'd rather have a jacket be a *little* tight than obviously too big

Here are a few pictures. Sorry for the lousy quality, my dslr isn't well set up at all for shooting indoors and I was too lazy to set it up properly.

Do you hug yourself a lot during the day? And if you're going to be raising your arms a lot, like when playing basketball, you should unbutton the jacket. That being said, it is slightly too tight when your arms are down. A tailor might be able to fix that even by just moving the button, so it's certainly worth a consult. I'd suggest you stop going to the gym.

It doesnt look bad...maybe you arent used to high armholes, which can make a jacket feel a bit tight compared to a loose armhole, which most jackets tend to have. but if it bugs you that much, maybe get a M and tailor the sleeves and body. I'd probably stick with the S myself.

working out and getting larger will be your biggest problem

The button stance's too high it's wierd. I just got a jacket that's too tight like yours and I'm already reselling it.

true...if the top buttoned lower (in between the 2 buttons), it would balance better. or cut the jacket a few inches shorter. either way, there's def balance issues in the design in addition to any fit issues

At least for me, the jacket should be making the outline for the body where here it's the exact opposite. Your body's pushing the jacket's limits to the point that it fits like a sweater. Armholes do look a touch tight, too.

If you don't wan to/can't return it, I wouldn't recommend buttoning it.

Here's to hoping the jump from S to M isn't much. It really looks like just an inch or so here and there and you'd have a perfect fit.

Yeah, there's definitely some unpleasant tension around that button. I was thinking something similar to GS - it seems like it might work better if it were a three-button, with the top button about where the lapels roll and the middle button a bit below the current button. And whodini's absolutely right, imho. A good-looking closely-fitted jacket shoes waist suppression on the sides of your waist. This jacket looks like it has suppression on your belly-button.
I share the view that you might want to try sizing up. That might also prevent the problem (well, it's only a problem if you think it's a problem, but personally I don't care for it) of the jacket seeming to "spread" over your hips from the waist down.

Agreed with whodini. It's already too tight, and if you're training, you won't be able to fit in it before long. Get a medium and grow into it eventually.
