I just got them today.. I'll start wearing them in regular rotation in a few weeks as it gets more fall-y. The color isn't lighter but the lighting in the pictures definitely gives them a black-ish, purplish feel. In other lighting, they might look more purple-y. Some of the google image photos you will find have a very glossy look, not of plastic-dipped shoes but of people who obviously polish their shoes pretty well. When I got them, they looked fairly "dead" in comparison but not really because there was anything wrong with the leather or the shoe, just me being too used to glossy polishes and antiqued finishes from being online too much. I hit them with some meltonian cordovan shoes cream, a bit of black shoe cream to darken the seams, and then oxblood wax and a lot of rounds of black wax to get a shine going and they are looking like they have more depth now but once again that isn't really a comment on Jack Erwin as much as it's a comment on what I'm used to these days. The leather is calfskin and the color is nice out of the box and the shoes do not have that stupid plastic look some shoes have.
Does anyone have experience with long wing blucher? I tried on some Allen Edmonds this week and I was not impressed at all. I want to eventually branch into Alden and Carmina, but they are still outside my price range.
Hey guys, quick update, I've been wearing the burgundy Carter wingtips at least twice a week since I got them. I've also maybe polished them in the toe and heel once, maybe twice. They are still looking good, in fact now they are broken in and don't have any bite to them when walking and do not look as "fresh".I'm not very good at taking pictures but here's an album of them in unflattering apartment lighting after 1 or 2 wears. There is some creasing but I'm actually trying to get them to look a bit beat up and would occasionally roll around from toe to heel to try and soften and bend the leather a bit.
The toes I have been polishing with black kiwi wax and although they don't look as antiqued as some people's things, they definitely have that polished boot look with a hint of contrast. Before polishing, I had run down the whole boot with cordovan meltonian and then hit the toe with some black meltonian but only for a short amount of time before buffing it off.
The pictures I took make it look light red because of the hard overhead lighting. However, in other lighting they have the dark purpley-black look that is in most of the photos online. I do not know how to take photographs that capture this and I only have an iPhone 5 camera but if anyone has any tips, I can try to take more.

Also, I got an iPhone 6S so the photos are much better than previously on my iPhone 5

I'm sure everyone would agree they are already aging really well. Look much less flat then when I first took them out of the box and more like the promotional blog pictures that are around. I just keep them clean and polish with black as well as tree them (like all my shoes).
Once again, they are still more purple in natural light. These are taken in my apartment with artificial lights at night.
Anyone have any suede shoes by them? I'm curious how they look. I'm kinda tempted to pick up brown suede chelsea boots or even black ones.
Their wingtip boots look a little blob-like to me (same with the cap-toes), but the chelseas are pretty sleek looking.
