JA Cashmere Coat

I picked up the Abboud 100% cashmere coat on STP for ~$475 with the 20% code. Arrived today. Super soft, fit is true to 54.

It is thin however, much thinner than expected for a winter coat.

I am not sure if it will do the trick in Chicago. It is handsome, and certainly very soft. Is the fact that it is 100% cashmere mean anything in terms of warmth? Am I better off with a heavier wool coat?

I'm from Chicagoland, too. If it's REALLY cold, I don't care what coat I'm wearing, it's not warm enough to withstand the winds on Michigan Avenue. I've worn 'winter' cashmere, complete with suitcoat underneath, and froze. If however, it's a 'normal' winter day . . . say, in the low thirties, you should be fine. My sister cannot walk down Michigan Avenue in really cold weather, minus a fur. Down, is another possibility.

Cashmere and camelhair are deceptively warm, for their weight. Worn with a suit, you'll probably be fine save for those arctic days where anything short of a parka is left wanting.

For the really cold days I put a wool sweater on over my shirt/tie then jacket than coat and scarf

add to it, i work in hancock and so i look at the paul stuart windows every day.
