    From New & Lingwood's website:

"In 1972 the old and famous shoe and boot making firm Poulsen Skone joined the Company extending the classic range of shoes we have long sold via J. Gane & Company our Eton-based shoe shop."

Can anyone clarify who made these and to what level of quality?

    Thanks.

    It's all the same.

Gane is a long gone firm in Eton, whose name was bought heaven-knows-how-many years ago by New & Lingwood. It's just N&L incorporating Gane and also incorporating Poulsen Skone. At one time, N&L used the Poulsen-Skone name for their premium range of ready-to-wear. (The Poulsen-Skone name, seems to have been sold to Dunhill). The name Gane was never used, apart from being "╦ťincorporated' (just as many Savile Row firms incorporate a number of long gone firms).
