had it for a week then ended up returning it because I thought it was too short for a winter jacket (back length less than 28" on a size S). Still it's pretty comfy, and very good at that price IMO, although it'd be even better if they switched out the pressure buttons for regular ones

If you size correctly is it as slimming as it looks on the model? I don't mind the shortness too much as long as it doesn't have a boxy fit

Didn't seem that boxy too me. For example I had the slim University coat a couple years ago and that one looked much boxier than the Skiff. Wool also feels softer

the fit is horrendous on the model its heavily pinned. it's good if you have a 16.5 shoulder to shoulder and a 44 inch waist otherwise avoid it

Not sure I agree with the fit comment, but the knit is relatively thin, it isn't that chunky. Neither is the navy crewneck donegal sweater. The chunkiest shawl cardigan they have is the lambswool three pocket one.

The nicest one is this one, but it appears to be sold out

Generally with J Crew sweaters I focus on the cashmere items during 25% off sales. At $170 to $225, they are pretty good deals and offer clean, classic looks

If you want a chunky shawl cardigan, I recommend checking out RRL's upcoming 40% off sale. IMO their wool shawl cardigans are consistently among the best out there.

thanks kunk and alcibiades - looks like i'll pass for now. i've tried on the RRLs before - great sweaters. i've decided i should only be buying one nicer cardigan for now, so it'll probably be between that and the SNS stark. was hoping jcrew could be a better mid-priced option.

Beautiful in person, though I think it would look cleaner if the button placket were covered like last year's Mayfair topcoat.

I recently started work at Jcrew so I'm able to get a few items at a steep discount. Any recommendations as to what I should buy to add to my wardrobe? Basically if you could get up to 50% off on things what would you get?

Thank you for the suggestion guys, I'll look into them. Usually collabs and third party items are excluded from discounts. I'm still open to more suggestions!

Also, are those cashmere sweaters and cardigans really worth it around ~$100? It's just crazy expensive for me for a sweater even at that price point. Can someone explain to be what makes cashmere so great?
