No, they don't come as shown. J Crew has taken to showing how the shoes look with a little wear on them...which is sort of cool but also sort of misleading if you don't know that.
It would sure be helpful to know how you know that.

As I posted earlier Crew has most definitely pre-aged/scuffed/faded items in the past ( http://www.jcrew.com/mens_feature/in...0841/30841.jsp ) -- why not these particular items, when they are shown as scuffed?

    Thanks.

I've never heard anything about J Crew's slim fit shirts. Anyone have an idea of how slim they are? Both outlet stores near me don't carry them.

The slim fit fits me very nicely without any excessive fabrics in the front and back. the arm width is narrower too. i bet you can go to jcrew.com and ask the rep for a measurement.

^i have one of those 20% instore cards too. does it work for red phone purchases instore? i want some shit that my store doesnt have

I spoke with a website rep the other day and they mentioned using the red phone specifically to get items that weren't available in store.

I tried this a while back with no luck. Might be worth trying again, but they turned me down before. Never have my sizes in the store.

Made in France is part of it. The brand name is part of it as well.

I guess I'm not 100% sure on this particular shoe, but they've shown the Alden's with some wear before and I've seen those in person and they are brand new and factory fresh. I assume that carries over for these Aldens as well. I really don't think they are pre-scuffing these leather soles.

The Russells are different, they actually have Russell distress these at Russell as I understand it from talking to the guys at the Liquor store.

Until very recently Crew had this Russell Mocassin chukka for sale on its website:

    Here's the website listing:

Did it ever go on sale? Anyone seen it in a store? or know if it will be back? Thanks.

Don't think it ever went on sale. I saw them at the Liquor store before but nowhere else. I have a pair I got direct from Russel when I stopped by there one day, mine were non-distressed of course but are looking pretty similar to that now that I've had them about a year. Nice shoes, though very flat and firm as they don't really have any insole. I put a spare Quoddy insole in mine and they are super comfy now.
