Well. While I've got a handful of J. Crew shirts filling some voids, I've got to recommend Gitman Vintage, though that probably comes as no surprise if you've been around the forums a little while. Gitman works best for broad shoulder types. I'm a short, stocky guy and a medium looks like it was poured over me. They are the very best fabrics in a classic, but slim cut. You'll be wearing them in 2020 and they won't look out of date. Our Legacy gets some love here too, as does WvG. Check those out. And Band of Outsiders if you are tall and slim (though $250+ for a shirt is a little out there for me, yet somehow I continue to justify my growing Gitman collection).

Pretty sure the common advice on BoO is short and slim, not tall.

I find it interesting that I'm about 50/50 of getting the original shoe box with a shoe order. I have about 8 pairs of shoes from collaborated brands, half came in the generic J. Crew boxes, while the other half came in their original boxes.

I got my Quoddys today. For $230, I'm pretty impressed with the feel and quality.

I was going to get an Irish linen and a Thomas Mason shirt, can anyone tell me what the quality's like and if there are better alternatives?

Argh! I ordered the McAlister boots from a red phone at 11am on Tuesday, it's now Friday, and they still have not shipped. 3-5 business days my a$$ J. Crew, I don't know why I keep buying things from them.

Me? I'm sorry, when I drop money like that I expect to at least have it shipped to the distribution company 3 days later. I know J. Crew is notorious for their long shipping. Just venting. I can be pretty impatient.

This comment could have gone in any J.Crew thread, but I was sort of disappointed in the "regular" fit of J.Crew's dress shirt. It fit okay, but could use more slimming through the torso and arms especially. Also, while I know it is a preferable for some, I really do not like cuffs with only one button. One button cuffs on shirts are always too big for me, but with two, I can at least get something fitting. It is just another thing that I would need my tailor to fix. The collar was a little flimsy, better collar stays would obviously help. The fabric is comfortable and of a decent weight. I think their 2-ply 120s dress shirts on sale are worth it for the price that I paid (even with the additional tailoring costs) of $34.99.

The Thomas Mason shirts are wonderful. I have no firsthand experience with the Irish Linen shirts, so I cannot speak to their quality.

    Yep.

Last week, I had a big headache mix up with J. Crew. I ordered a Belstaff item, and received a pair of women's chino shorts. The mix up has been fixed, but I wish the person who packed that thing had a coaching at the minimum. The two items look nothing alike.

RE: Thomas Mason shirts. At retail, they're too expensive. You can go to MyTailor and get a MTM shirt in a plethora of Thomas Mason fabrics for roughly the same price.

Yeah, that happens because each employee that packages orders is packing anywhere from 6-10 orders at once and they're paid on production. So, the faster they are, the more they get paid. They're just trying to do too much at once. It doesn't happen too often, but every now and then you get a mixed order.

Both pairs of Alden's I received came in a generic JCrew box with blemishes :brick: They went back. Never again.
