Picked up the Quoddy for JCrew mocs couple weeks ago. They are great looking, comfortable, adn the construction is second to none. Those boys in Maine know what they hell they are doing.

    They're FW12, so it'll be a few months.

Amen. American Airlines may have lost my Quoddy bluchers, my most frequently worn pair of shoes. I will die if they don't find them.

    Thank you,

so is that to say everything thats on the site now is it for S/S 2012?

I'll be in NYC in a couple weeks and have heard that the stores there have aldens that aren't available online.
Is this true and if so, does anyone know what they may carry?

customer support could tell me nothing about availability without a style number...

Correct. Everything online now is for SS12, but there should be more releases late april for this SS. Some of the NYC stores carry Alden, but I don't believe they carry any Alden shoes that are not already available online.

a lot of ambivalence for jcrew in this thread!

if you compare jcrew to many of the other mall brands, jcrew definitely comes out on top. much more fashion forward than banana/gap, express, AX, etc. their price points are pretty high, but it is a convenient stomping ground for people who want to "look good" but don't have the time/information/inclination to do a little deeper shopping.

that being said, i really like their ludlow blazers. they are very expensive, but compared to almost all other blazers i have looked at, jcrew has the nicest roll, and i dig their small lapels.

I have no experience with this jacket in particular, but I would say go with the shirt size that you wear, so a small. However, I would never recommend buying anything from the factory site. The quality is even lesser than the mainline, which is suspect to begin with.

Thinking about picking up a button-down from J Crew but I'm in Canada so I don't have one nearby to goto. I'm 5'8 145lb... would you guys suggest that I go with XS or S?

XS, no question. I'm 5'9", 150 lbs. and I wear a regular XS.

Thanks, how do you compare regular XS vs slim S? Any particular areas that change significantly?

Shoulders and sleeve length will be about the same for regular XS and slim XS, or regular S and slim S. Body/waist/sleeves will be slimmer on the slim fit.

Going from regular XS to slim S, you would expect shoulders and sleeves to be larger but body to probably be about the same.

When I tried Slim Small, it worked, but the sleeves were a bit baggy. Regular XS fits me perfectly.

Going from a regular XS to a slim fit S, the shoulder and back area is a bit looser and not as tight around the forearms and wrist. The sleeves and sleeve openings are also a bit looser. I'm about 5'10", 150 and the regular XS is too tight around my back and forearms. The slim S is perfect around my shoulders and back, and the sleeves fit comfortably.
