Just received a pair of plaid Purcell's from J Crew's online store ($29 on sale), and the white outsoles have some crappy yellow "stains" on them. Is this normal!? Shouldn't the outsoles be totally white? Maybe that's just what you get for shopping the Sale section...

Then again, they'll be stained and dirty in 2 weeks anyway.

Decision time! Do they look good? Keep them. Like ****? Return/sell them.

this is an easier decision than "is this normal"

Tried them on and they still look good. Now I'm trying to decide whether I should buy my first pair of Chucks, because these are very comfortable!

Chucks will be less comfortable than Purcells.

Is the canvas on the JPs frayed a bit? If so, it's likely part of this "distressed" kick they've been on and the soles were made to look that way intentionally.

no... the outsoles are white, but they have random blotches of yellow. You can't even see them when I have them on though.

I think you got a destressed pair buddy. And it doesn't matter if it's normal, if you don't like it, return it.

there isn't any fraying on the shoes, dickcheese. They are just stained.

PS. sale = all sales are final
