J. Crew linen suit SF-approved?

I'm thinking of getting this suit in navy:

SF approved? What about with the vest as a three piece? Yes, I know it's center vent, but they look fine on me.

Would a better choice be this BB suit currently on sale?

I tried that suit on in store recently. I was really impressed for the price. Retail price too. Was tempted to get it. But I held back.

What I don't like are the really thin lapels. Would prefer side vents too, but not a huge deal to me.

That BB is deceiving. Title says two buttons, but three are clearly pictured... Either case, the BB is more likely to be better constructed and will stay "in style" longer. Who knows when the skinny lapels will be gone.

The J. Crew suit is nice if you're looking for that trim and fit looking suit. I agree, as well, that you don't know how long the thin lapels will be in style. Personally, I'm not a fan of the that style suit, as I'm more of a traditionalist. The BB suit is deceiving, as the wrong suit is pictured. If you're looking for the "in style" suit, I would go with the J. Crew threads at a very decent price.

I don't really care for "in style". Is the J. Crew really that narrow? Unfortunately there is not a store nearby for me to try it on.

I'm looking to wear this in the legal profession, in the summer for days when I'm not in court. Figured the vest might still be a business look even if I take my jacket off in the office. I'll be getting something in navy as well, since tan/beige doesn't look good with my complexion (light-skinned Asian).

I like the BB too, but it's more expensive and I can't shake the model's goofy look off. Notice that it's "imported" as well, while other 1818 suits are usually Italy or USA. What gives? The only reason I might even consider the BB is because I have about $1000 in BB credit.

In all honesty, this is a very specialized suit that probably won't get that many wears. I considered Indochino, but I don't want to mess with MTM at this time. I even considered cotton, but SF seems to have a negative opinion.

J Crew lapels are anemic, fit is bad on the model. BB looks solid.

The more I look at that suit, the more I really don't like it. I think you could find something more solid than the two you have posted. BB must have something you can use that 1K credit on.

I really don't know what to spend the BB credit on. I have more than enough suits from great SF deals. More than enough shirts. The Freeport clearance center closed so no great retail-line deals.

What would be a place to buy a SF-approved navy linen suit? Under $500, not necessarily slim fit (but not baggy). Don't care about vents, but I suppose I'd prefer dual vent. Don't care for handiwork, since it's just a beater/summer suit.

I own the J Crew Aldrige Linen Suit in Navy from a season or two ago. It's fine and wears a bit warmer than you might think. It's held up and I wear it once a week or so in NYC summers. I'm an attorney and it's fine for casual meetings and/or Fridays when I'm heading out later in the evening. For a sub-$500 suit, it's fine. I think that I'd prefer it half-lined, but I'm unsure about how it would drape.

Honestly that suit fit me pretty well and liked the styling. I'll probably pick one up to tide me over until the RL stuff starts to near the end of the season, I think their Linen suit separates are made better.

So i'll probably do the crew in Navy, the RL in beige and then buy a couple pair of RLPL cream linen pants.
