If you were referring to the white Sun Washed Oxford shirt that was (temporarily) on sale, I did ask the electronic SA and she informed me that the reason it was still shown in the section but no longer at that price was because it was no longer on sale. Which lead me to believe that they have limited quantities they would like to get rid of.

Hey guys. In case you all didn't know already, in-store sale items are 50% off and you can stack it with your student discount.
Also spring stuff drops on the 30th online, 31st in-store.

Well I have some questions for y'all. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated.

-So the extra 50% off sale, is that at every store or select stores?
-Couple of things I'm looking for that I'm not seeing locally here that I was wondering if anyone has spotted in their local stores:

The Dodocase would be in the sailcloth, which is the grey and grey variant. The Wallace and Barnes blackwatch shirt is listed as full price, but I'd guess it's sale in store. Anyone spotted it? Also, if anyone knows of any stores with a lot of Wallace and Barnes.

A couple of musings from this thread:

Robert, you must be one of the most stylish guys in all of Asheville. Love that town btw. I'm assuming the only J. Crew is the one just outside of the Biltmore. On a personal note, you wouldn't front a band and have a record label would you? Oh, and ignore the dumb comments about $53. BTW, do you have either of these already?

    http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/...4+20~15~~20+16+4294967257~15~~~~~~~/33108.jsp

Or that Cashmere Tneck? How's the fit? I don't do a slim in J Crew shirts, but the regular fit shirts are fine.

As for J. Crew, a real mixed bag this year. IMO it's like that every year. This bag looks really good though:
The fairisles are excellent, though one style runs smaller than last season while the other runs probably the same as last season. The Inverness runs small to the extent that the Large in the Inverness is a Medium in that other version. Kinda crazy. Nice Fairisles though, especially on the discounts. The oxford plaids are great too. I'm probably in for another one in a color I wasn't as thrilled with initially, but at $20 if it's half off in store I'm sure I'll get the wear out of it. Oh, and the ties. If you like wool ties at all I'd jump on any J. Crew ties that you like. The wool ties are made in New York and they're very nice. The fairisle ones they did this season, I grabbed the lighter white/grey variant, are nice as well. Made in Italy in fact and look nearly the same as the Engineered Garments ones, but at a much lower price.

On the flip side I thought their sweaters generally were poor though. I was excited to get this Fairisle cardigan they'd had, but when I felt it in store it was a big "no". Horrible hand feel to it. Oh, and that SNS Herning knockoff of sorts that everyone was fawning over, the cardigan. Oof. Got it online and it felt awful. Horrible sweater. Their secret wash shrits are alright, but a bit long. Banana Republic's soft wash shirts are just as good and some of the patterns are better and BR practically gives the stuff away sometimes. In fact the've got a few nice ones on the website right now. I think you can half J Crew and half Banana Republic on those as they both make some bad ones. Outerwear at J. Crew is kinda junky too. Granted I've spent a small fortune on outerwear this season and I'm addicted to pricey enough brands, but generally J. Crew's outerwear doesn't impress me. Chinos are alright. I've done the Stantons. Not nearly as good as my Banana Republic vintage straights from a year or two ago, but their current vintage straights aren't the same.

BLAUG, you sure do write a lot. Tneck and rollneck are in transit. Will report upon their arrival. Yes, J. Crew's in the Biltmore district, but there is a clearance store (not a factory outlet but a clearance store) in the Brevard area. I've gotten some great deals there, including the Bayswater peacoat for $40.

Rang up some of the higher profile stores today looking for the Red Wings and a few other items today. No luck and the general answer I got was they're online only. Was able to grab the Dodocase I wanted. Free shipping, proper sales tax and they matched the online price while giving me 50% off too. Not the initial Dodocase I wanted, but I don't think the one I really wanted has a camera hole. Great deal for a Dodocase though.

Hit up one of the two local stores here tonight just before they closed and their sale section was gutted.

    Yes, I do. [IMG]

Interesting. Never heard of a clearance store.

Now that I've filled out a lot I'm going to re-visit J Crew stuff.. Oh Robert, hello from Raleigh :slayer:

I might try to get that Timex naval watch, it's on sale and was at my local store.. 50% off that would be pretty dope.

Well if you like the Nato strap look, you don't have to go the Timex route. I've picked up some nice brand new Victorinox Swiss Army watches for about 80% off on eBay and just grabbed some Nato straps to go with them. Anyway, if you find another watch you like better than the Timex you can still do that look as they make those Nato straps in various sizes and there are plenty available on eBay. Next I'm looking for a watch with an orange face or bezel and then I'll get a camo Nato strap to add to it.

Rollneck and turtleneck arrived today. Awesome, both. The cashmere tneck is sleek while still comfy, not too small, not too big. Perfect. I feel like Steve McQueen or a really cool spy. Sort of like this.

I have been reading some advice lately, by the way, how a nice turtleneck is a good "tie-less" alternative with a blazer or even a suit.

Rollneck is awesome in a different way. It's a little bigger in fit, very vintage looking, like a Submariner turtleneck. The "bigness" is appropriate here as it gives it that rugged North Sea look. The fit is a bit like this, except mine does not fall quite as much off the shoulder at the seams. And it is a "roll neck" of the sort that is sort of New England or Ivy League (what makes this confusing is that the Brits call turtlenecks rollnecks, where as we Americans tend to call these roll-necky things, well, rolllnecks and turtlenecks turtlenecks.

For size reference, for both sweaters, I ordered a medium. I am 6.1 and 185 pounds with relatively fit frame. 42R in jackets, 33 waist in trousers.

Yeah, I think so too. At the same time, I might do this under a more casual jacket, say, under a rain coat of some kind. But yeah, the blazer combo is just off.

I saw this too. Just chatted with a sales associate online and she said they would honor it for me. Was still sort of on the fence about buying it though. Anyone willing to push me over the edge? Been looking for a dependable overshirt. From the sounds of it, seems like the check is more navy than black (which I would prefer) but the one person's review on it here said the wool was pretty itchy. Wool doesn't bother me a whole lot, but with it being final sale, just want to get as much info as I can.
