still on the fence about a chambray shirt.. I think the dark indigo denim is too dark for me..

is this chambray shirt just a passing fad? I currently like the look with the tie and jacket.

I finally went and checked out the only J Crew store in Canada with a men's section. Can't say I was impressed, prices were higher then in the US (which is to be expected) but more importantly the selection was pretty poor. Nothing at all in slim fit.

Vancouver also has a J Crew with men's section. I was there in the summer and they had all the slim fits (484 slim, urban slim pant, thomas mason slim).

Which items did you find the prices to be higher? I bought two pairs of urban slim pants for work and they were the same prices as the online store.

Vancouver, and now Edmonton, have men's sections. The Edmonton one just opened up like three months ago. Definitely has slim fit stuff.

FWIW, I am a 34 TTS waist (take 34 in tts brands like Epaulet / Left Field etc.) and take 32 in urban slim fit. I can get get my legs through the 484 fit though (tried 32-34), like not even any chance, at least 2-3 inches too tight in calves and thighs. I find it ranges a little bit too though for a few random pairs that I got as some 32s were too tight

Looking at the bayswater peacoat...how often do people have their peacoats altered for sleeve length or even jacket length?

I tend to have a problem with the length the most in coats (5"5" / 130 lbs).

I don't see anything wrong with it at all, as long as the rest of your fit borders on casual. For example, I probably wouldn't wear a chambray shirt and tie with a chalkstripe suit, but often wear it with a horseblanket sportcoat and khakis/jeans.

Edit: the more I think about it, I probably would not pair anything other than a knit tie with chambray either..

Yeah, I've been to a few Jcrew stores in the US and not much was happening in them either. I don't expect the Canadian ones to be any different.

Has anyone here bought the navy dot Japanese twill BD shirt? It dissappeared from the regular section almost as soon as it was introduced. Then it started popping up in the sale section a couple of different times - each on sale with an extra 30% off sale price (99.99). Most recently (Monday morning) they had xs, s, and m on sale, and, as expected, they dissappeared quickly.

Take it to a tailor. Takes 3 minutes and costs $15.
