So, after looking at the legacy blazer today, I noticed the words "Chest-piece construction allows the fabric to drape beautifully". Is this J.Crew saying that there is half-canvas or gasp, full canvas? Thanks!

I gave one of these the third degree yesterday - it felt like a floating chestpiece but I'm not 100% certain.

Edit: yeah, the chestpiece is fused, not floating. Thanks nerdykarim.

I have one. There is a canvas, but it is fused into the jacket. Fancy wording.

edit: If the lapels even have a canvas piece, it's ultra-light and it causes the lapels to roll quite nicely. I think the J. Crew blazer is a pretty decent value at deep discount. I think I paid $59 for my 2-button legacy blazer.

Quite misleading - as the real benefit (and 95+% of the expense) comes from sewing in the canvas by hand, not from the canvas itself. Once you fuse it, it obv is no longer free floating.

That is very clever copywriting.

Sounds great -- means nothing.

Machine sewn canvas can be very good also.

Are the J. Crew Legacy navy blazers better than the Brooks Brothers 346 line navy blazers?

I think the Legacy blazer is the same jacket that comes with their suits, which are half-canvassed as per this video
