Musberger calls games like football. He doesn't understand the momentum in basketball. He makes all these play by play calls that build up to a missed shot and it's anti-climatic. It sounds so stupid.

And Texas is faceplanting as hard as any team I've ever seen.

It is shocking -- at the beginning of the year they looked unstoppable! [IMG]

Barnes benched his two most talented offensive players (freshman) during this slide for jacking up too many shots, not playing defense and careless turnovers. He said "I'd rather die a slow death than give in to those two players and reinforce their bad habits". He breaks kids down to build them back up, but in the process destroys a lot of confidence.

I have this disgusting feeling that Duke is the best tournament ready team. Their two major concerns are not crucial in March.

#1 They are thin in the back court, but benches always shrink in the tournament and having Scheyer and Smith playing 38 minutes a game isn't a huge problem as they've already done so many times and have learned to pace themselves.

#2 They have trouble consistently scoring and rebounding at the center position. But if you go back and look at past champions teams that win it, all usually get their points at point guard, shooting guard, and power forward. Center is the least important offensive position and becomes more defensive minded. This year the only team with an athletic enough front court to give Duke's centers problems defensively is Kentucky (who I think will fall short from lack of tournament experience, which is vital).

Duke is my pick to win it all. I think Syracuse would be the next favorite, with Nova and Kansas as favorites after that. I think Kansas is the most vulnerable for an exit early from the likely 1 seeds due to inconsistent shooting and limited offensive production at the shooting guard. I suspect Kentucky will win some close games and then murdered in the Elite 8 or so by a more experienced team.

I'm currently watching the Purdue/Indiana game. Purdue is stomping Indiana, badly.

    I like to make predictions.
I'll likely predict Georgetown or 'Zaga next week (after a few drinks).

    Btw, KU looks very strong.
I would not be disappointed to see a Kansas v Kentucky final.

Sometimes I wonder why I even watch the first half of a basketball game. . .

Neither Vermont nor FSU will win the national championship. I'll take bets on that if you'd like.

For the first time in a while I am not looking forward to the UNC/Duke game. Kind of depressing.

    [IMG] I guess tournament-ready doesn't necessarily equate to suck-ass-Terps-ready.

Out of the incredibly weak ACC this year? My pick to win it all remains Kansas. Upperclass leadership at the key positions, PG and C, coupled with one and done talent on the wing makes them have all the pieces. Couple that with an incredibly deep bench, and they are the team to beat.

    The computers still love Duke.
