I can keep wearing my notch lapel tuxedo before 6 PM because I like it!!!! Now no one can judge me or look at me oddly, if they do I will simply refer them to Manton who straighten them right out.

A clever bid at making people stop posting in the "good taste" thread to seek validation.

I think Manton has finally given [read, woken] up and has found a point of enlightenment however fleeting it may have been.

I don't think I've ever seen Manton so cyber-angry. This is the equivalent of your dad making you smoke the whole carton of cigarettes.

I question the premise of this thread. :)

Rules can be helpful (when learning or when you're stuck) and they can get in the way (make you boring or predictable)*.

*I realize boring is a good trait sometimes. but boring can also be... boring.

The thing is, the "rules" are rarely so precise as to make anything fully predictable. What distinguishes a good outfit from a bad one is just as likely to be a matter of execution within the rule as whether the rules were followed.

Perhaps people are confused by the title's questionable punctuation.

"It's all relative,; wear what you want."

The premise of this thread was not adequately explained to the people.

I assumed the premise was proof by contradiction - of which we see and can find much. Am I wrong?
