1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I don't think I've ever seen Manton so cyber-angry. This is the equivalent of your dad making you smoke the whole carton of cigarettes.

Rules can be helpful (when learning or when you're stuck) and they can get in the way (make you boring or predictable)*.

*I realize boring is a good trait sometimes. but boring can also be... boring.

The thing is, the "rules" are rarely so precise as to make anything fully predictable. What distinguishes a good outfit from a bad one is just as likely to be a matter of execution within the rule as whether the rules were followed.

Perhaps people are confused by the title's questionable punctuation.

The premise of this thread was not adequately explained to the people.

I assumed the premise was proof by contradiction - of which we see and can find much. Am I wrong?

Yeah, that's what everybody's doing anyway and they all look like crap. [IMG]

(T-shirts, clothes that don't fit, dirty jeans etc.) Glad I found this forum.

I've tried championing the very issue at the heart of what compelled you to start this thread in the Shoe Pron threak because it is not being used for it's intended purpose. But the powers that be informed me that it has become a "catch-all" and that I need to just "roll with it". Von Rothbart would roll in his SF grave.

But such is the nature of the fora nowadays. I bet you could start a thread regarding button boots and it will turn into a "why chicks shouldn't wear booty shorts" threak. The old days are done and gone. We either roll with it or get rolled over.

Plato got it right: Education is a painful process of dragging people, kicking and screaming, out of the cave into the light.

We shouldn't forget that this process is painful to the dragger as well as the dragged.
