Italian Puppytooth blue shirt bleached white?

Hi,

Just a query about the quality of this tailored shirt that I purchased recently. My missus washed put it in the wash with a red dress and you can guess what happens next.
So we send it to the dry-cleaners who insists they can remove the stain.
I presume they bleached the shirt, and its come back stark white.
Is this a comment on the quality of the shirt and the dying of the fabric (and the colour isn't holding to the blue stitches that make up the puppytooth pattern) - or will this happen to all shirts regardless of quality?
