Italian Influence Trousers

What characteristics describe the way Italian men wear their trousers?

The terms I commonly hear are “Shivering Break” in which the hem of the trousers meet the vamps of the shoes without rumpling; Sprezzatura, or a studied carelessness that makes things look simpler than they are; and comfort relaxing the fit a little without being baggy.

Here is a picture of some Italian men:

To get a similar look without going bankrupt I was thinking about getting a pair of slim cut dockers wearing them about as tight as they are in this picture, making them comfortable, non-baggy and yet not too tight. Also If needed I would go to a tailor to get the length right (shivering break) and make sure they fit about like they do here: that is they conform to my body without being snug.

Am I on the right track?

Thanks!

I'm not an expert by any standard, so this is just my own view.

You should also think about choice of colors as it is a big part of the Italian style as I see it. You can see in the picture you posted, 2 are white and 1 is a brown shade.

Aim for cream, white/off-white, sand, tan, light browns, even pastels, etc..

Thanks Steve!

I have been thinking about that. I do want lighter colored trousers. Would taupe work?

Thanks Steve! I’m kind of surprised Italian’s are wearing brown hues. They don’t work with Winter Coloring.
