Is your wardrobe more expensive than your car?

Worth noting though, that most people here are constantly buying clothing, and quite infrequently buying cars. I purchased my car over six years ago, and my wife's car about three years ago. If I bought a new car and kept the old one as frequently as I bought clothing, obviously the cars would cost more.

And perhapswe should take adjusted dollar values for all purchases ^_^. So a 2000 Camry purchased for 24,000 in 1999 counts as 27,000 in today's dollars ^^

I love my cars as I love my clothes. But I have as much cars seems like as I do clothes. My daily beater is a 2003 BMW 5 series. My collection of muscle cars are my babies. 72 chevelle 79 transam and a 76 nova. And our 2013 traverse ltz to haul our kids. I guess it depends where you live in the states. Here in suburbia america cars are necessity unlike new York.

'98 323is purchased last year for $2500. Although I own no watches, my wardrobe purchases certainly exceed the price of the car.

Also, the Fit is a great car. Cooper might—might—be more fun, but the Fit's dollars-to-giggles ratio is much better. The Beetle is...unfortunate.

My choice of car is determined by two things: price-to-quality (quality = safety and reliability) and access to a mechanic I trust.

I wouldn't by an absolutely ugly car, mind you. It just has to pass a reasonable aesthetic standard, at which points looks cease to be a consideration.

This is getting into some serious #StyFoDude territory...

I voted no. Not even close. Wife drives a Fit- thing is horrible. Can't accelerate in traffic. Holds lots of stuff, which is good I suppose. It's reliable, though and holds all of the baby's stuff so credit to that. I have a 2.5L Mazda 3 which, again, is ok. Wardrobe is worth multiples lower than that and I'm the same age as Clag (which is depressing to think about considering the state of our respective wardrobes).

Edit: My life is not as depressing as this post makes it sound.

I voted before I saw that watches count. My vehicle is a 2003 Suburban, purchased new in late 2002. My investment in my, uh, wardrobe cumulatively might come close, and certainly would come close or exceed the 2002 cost of the truck if I added in my watches. Scary thought.
