We're having a bad thunderstorm right now and my poor doggie is scared.
Is this a common behavior with dogz?

Yes. My gf's roommate has a golden retriever. The poor thing jumps every time he hears lightning. He usually balls up in a dark corner when there's a thunderstorm rolling around. I saw the same behavior in the chiguagua that my mother used to have, too.

Nah, they just hate getting wet.

Our neighbors have two big dogs - one jumps out of her fur at t-storms or firecrackers.

Both my dog and my cat hate the rain, and freak out like crazy when there's a bad storm, which was like four times this week.

A lot of dogs are very sensitive to loud noises. Two of my four Tosas were. They seemed to be more sensitive to loud, concussive sounds like a nearby fireworks display than the protracted rumbling of thunder, however. The latter didn't bother them nearly as much.

my dog knocked over the fence to keep it in the specified room, and jumped into my sisters bed
then we got her back downstairs
she did the same thing
so i just slept on the couch in the room where the dog was

so scared she was!

My dog is afraid of most things, especially water. He fell in our pool the day we bought him. He was playing in the backyard and I guess he didn't quite yet understand that he couldn't run on water so he had to learn the hard way. It was hilarious at the time, but now I just feel sorry for him.

Our little guy who is a Killer by the fair moon light - turns to jelly when the thunder rolls - seems to happen to most of the dogs I've had over the years big small young or old - the old ones seem to deal with it a bit better, I guess its the equity of anticipation without result that gets them through it.

Yea. My dog is terrified. The first sign of thunder he sprints downstairs with his tail between his legs, or under my bed.
