What species is that fur?

And what size is it?

I doubt Zero King made 100% Vicuna over coats. Also, while the Zero king was undoubtedly faux fur, the HF Vicuna might be real fur.

With some work he could surely get more than you estimate.

Just go to the Ebay section that would have overcoats and "model" your ad after one that you like. Unless the ad design is registered or something you can copy the general design of someones ad and it will get you a greater price.

Also, remember that Ebay and Paypal have fees. So you should end up with about 90% of the sales price.

Your coat is definitely vintage and it's hard to tell the condition. Since you say it appears unworn, I'll assume that the condition is mint. If so, with a very good ad and pictures, I think you should be able to get between $400 - $750. Why not try to sell it here on the B & S forum.

I had 2 woman's vintage 100% Vicuna outer coats. They were not quite in as good a condition as your coat. I sold them cheaply to an SF member for $400 for both. He said they were for his mom so I didn't mind. They belonged to a famous lady too. Someone with very good search skills might be able to find them in my posts.

Good Luck and remember if you put a little work in with pictures and design you usually get a higher sale price.

Thanks a ton. I definitely do need to get some better pics. you can't really tell how nice it is without em.

Of this I am sure, but he really needs to hit the right person at the right time. I am very curious about the fur on this one.

You may laugh, but have you thought of going to an appraiser like Christie's or Sotheby's? While most of the clothes they sell are valuable because of who commissioned/wore it (presidents, kings, Elvis, Marylin, etc.), who knows. As has been pointed out, vicuna is very rare and suits made from it today routinely start at five figures.

If it truly is Vicuna, holy cow! That is the most expensive fabric there is; sustantially more expensive than cashmere. "Treasured cloth of royalty" is true.

A Kiton pure Vicuna coat would be over $10K. Only firms like Kiton work with the stuff these days.

Don't want to stop you from getting good selling advice, but please tell me you are not going to sell this for at most $350 then some time in the near future end up having to need an overcoat and buy some cheap thing for $299 on sale. If it fits you well, and you live in colder climate, why not wear this thing like you mean it! I know I would

If that was the case where would I need to go to get it appraised? If it helps I'm in the Washington D.C. area.

I'm not sure why people think the fur collar hurts the value. I think the vicuna and this coat is wonderful, but the problem will be finding someone who likes the coat, cares that it is vicuna and is willing to pay the premium for it. It might not be a quick sale, but if you like place it on ebay for a hefty price and see if you get any serious bids.

And agreed. Don't sell it for $350 and then turn around and buy a coat for $299.

How many men do you see wearing fur collared dress coats? That's how I know.

I sold a 100% vicuna overcoat in B&S not too long ago for about $800, which was a very good deal for the buyer IMO. Of course, it did not have a fur collar.

Me for one. In certain neighborhoods here in Minneapolis/St Paul they are sought out. But then again we have our own regional style (due to a couple of weeks below -10 degrees Fahrenheit every year).

Its looks like this the fur could be removed by a tailor. Do you really think that would raise the value/increase chances of finding a buyer?

Yes, by the looks of it, it was designed to be taken off. As far as raising the value I would consider buying it if it was my size without the fur. With the fur I wouldn't
