Is this watch too feminine?

Hello,

My girlfriend gifted me with a very nice watch this Valentine's Day. I had warned her that I have small wrists (6.5'' around at the smallest part right before the knuckle) so that I couldn't really wear very large face watches.

She got me a vintage art deco style Bulova that has a really great face and scroll work around the outside. It is a men's watch, but rather smaller than I expected. I'm not sure if it's "too" (and don't ask me for a definition of that) feminine or not; she's willing to resell it on eBay if I deem it such.

I was hoping people could give me their unvarnished opinions. Please!

Thanks,
Vil

From a recovering watch addict, that watch is perfect for you. Although today's watches are definitely larger, few vintage men's watches were overly large. It looks fine on your wrist and I like the case shape.

It is pretty small. Most people today seem to sport watches that look like something you would expect to see mounted in the console of a cruise liner or the dashboard of a biplane so that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Do you like it? that's all that matters

If it were a sporty, Breitling style watch with a chronograph and big pushers, then it would be too small. Seeing as it's a simple, clean style, it's fine. Being a vintage style, that makes in all the finer. It's not what I would wear diving or car racing, but obviously that's not the intention. It's meant to be beautiful, but inconspicuous & understated, and it fits that bill well.

FYI, I believe the consensus is that wearing a watch closer to your hand makes t appear larger. You could slide it down closer to your hand (where the quarter is in your picture) if you have the room comfortably.

I'm starting to look for 'smaller' watches myself, after buying into the large watch trend recently. I think, all my clothes fit slim and are well -proportioned, why doesn't my watch fit me as well?

Size wise it is fine. The only thing I don't like is the bezel, but if you like it you should wear it. Plus, it is a present from your girlfriend so wear it regardless.

Cool watch.

I find a lot of sport watches are trending towards alarm clock size. The largest I have is a Fortis Cosmonaut Diver and two dress watches one is a 1966 Omega Seamaster Deville at 34mm and the other is an earlier Seamaster from the early 1950s.

the real question is: do you like it?
This is a very nice watch... as a watch addict myself... i prefer more bold watches.
I too have small wrists, but you can get by with a 40mm watch ala Ball Watch Co.

If you like it, thats all that matters.

I would not wear it to a football game, or with jeans, but it could have a place in the quiver as a dress watch. When the girlfriend gives you a gift, you had better think twice about sending it off to ebay.

That is a very nice looking dress watch! I would most certainly wear it! You are quite lucky to have someone that puts such thought into a gift for you!

Enjoy The Watch!!!
