Fortis are great machines, but since I'm a minimalist and would like to only own 1 good watch, I wonder if this is too sporty looking to wear with suits

. Any thoughts?
Thanks much

I don't think so, but if I could only have one watch that wouldn't be it.

Nice, plain, minimalist looking watch. Fortis has a decent reputation.

I would actually say that it's a very vasatile watch. You can dress up, dress down, dress casual simply by changing with wrist band. Have a black and brown calf, maybe in crocadile for dressy, and rubber/kevlar knit for sporty occasional.

That Fotris watch is fine with a suit.

great, simple idea i didn't think of- the strap indeed can move it back and forth from more casual to well... less casual;
the white stitching on the picture definitely seems sportier than a plain, smoother leather;

yeah, it is pretty chunky, but nothing like the ridiculously giant faces some celebrities seem to favor lately;
and it's smaller than the montblanc timewalker which i think goes a bit overboard (42 mm face)

i'm not 100% bent on the idea of only 1 watch, but kinda like the commitment this implies. granted, this makes the decision rule very difficult!
one thing i like about fortis is how freaking rugged they seem to be (this model is water resistant to 200m). so for now my decision rule is get as rugged a watch as possible without getting into the obviously and irreversibly sport watch category...

Looks ok to me, but definitely on the casual side of the spectrum. If you're the type that thinks it's ok to wear a diver (Rolex Sub, Omega SMP, etc) with a suit then I think this falls under the same category. I know on many of the watch forums the divers and other sporty watches are deemed to casual by many for suit wear.

Personally, I would wear it...but then I wear my SMP with a suit so I'm usually ok with the more casual and sporty watches with suits.

You can wear that with a suit no problem. I like it very much. I have one watch I wear for everything but it is not as rugged as that (or as expensive).

It's a little on the casual side but not that bad. Fortis makes handsome watches, I really like the straight, square lines and shapes (particularly the hands). However, they are also pretty big (40mm+?) which is why I never bought one myself.

IMO, black dials are the hallmark of tool watches, YMMV.

I like the look of that watch but, to my eye, it's on the borderline of what can be pulled off with lounge wear. actually, I think the red second hand pushes it just over the edge, but YMMV.
