Good responses. I've never heard of it, but sounds like it happens. Yeah he was an asshole cop for sure and no she does not have a warrant lol.

I drive in just about every country in Europe ... and have only a Washington State driver's license. I also have something known as an 'international driver's permit' ... but it was provided locally by AAA (the American Automobile Association). The only official license is that of Washington.

It is a way to ensure the traffic fine is paid. The whole, "lucky to not be going to jail" thing is a little over the top but all in all can be true.

Local police officers here in south Texas often take Mexican visitors straight to court to have their fine paid because they know if they don't the person will just cross back into Mexico and the fine will never get paid.
