I was looking for Hermes watches on ebay and saw that a big seller with, they say, a real store has these (a bunch of them) on sale.

Are these legit? Worth it?

Don't do it, that's a waste of money. There are certain products that you're paying just for the name, Hermes watch is one of them. And this is from an Hermes collector.

Agreed. If you're going to pay extra for a name, let it be the name of someone who is famous for makin that product.

Hermes makes nice ties, scarfs and leather travel goods.

Hermes watches are not that well-regarded. If you do get one, buy a used one with all the papers and a box. You can probably wear it for a year and get the same money back. The legit ones often ship from collectors in Japan...

I see -- I'm going to pass on this auction.

That leaves the question, Why are they not well regarded? Elsewhere on this forum I read that they make their own in a facility outside of Bern. I know they are quartz but it is swiss made is it not? What is bad about them? What should I be looking at instead for this price range? (2nd hand about $400 to $600).
