Is this close to being an Oxxford hanger?

I realize that the Oxxford suit hanger is considered the ne plus ultra of hangers, but at $35 a pop they are a bit pricey.

This model by HangerCity looks like it may be almost as good, and at $8.99 very reasonably priced. It's 18" wide, so I'm not sure if it's as wide as the Oxxford hanger.

That looks almost the same as Walgreen's hangers at three times the price.

I actually bought my first Walgreen hanger today, and this one looks thicker across the middle than the Walgreen hanger. In addition, this hanger appears to be carved from a solid piece of wood, whereas on the Walgreen hanger the contoured shoulder pieces are carved separately and glued on.

Nevertheless, I think the Walgreen hanger has to be the best hanger for the money anywhere.

You can find cedar hangers for the same price at a local TJ Maxx.

Ikea's wooden hangars are pretty dam good and they come in 5 or 6 packs for about $6. I dont use them for my suit but I use them for my shirts and old polos whose shape I want to maintain

This pic shows how the Walgreen hanger is relatively narrow until the flare at the ends for the shoulders.

Here's the company that makes the Oxxford hangers. Wonder how much this jazzy walnut number goes for?

Yes, the name Beverly is stamped in the underside of the Oxxford hanger. The Oxxford hangers are ebony.

I'll reveal a little secret.

The same Beverly hanger in walnut is provided by H. Freeman MTM.

Therefore, buy an H. Freeman MTM suit at LS Clothes (Izzy) for approximately $700, and get the hanger for free!

That looks pretty close to the Brooks Golden Fleece Hangers too.

Make sure you get the good hanger from Izzy. He was going to give me a plastic hanger, but I saw the nice ones in other suits and insisted he switch it out. I think he thought I was nuts, but I walked out with the suit and a great hanger!!

Are they actually made of ebony, or are they just hardwood stained black as indicated in this article? (For $35, I'd like to think they are ebony.)

Price to value the Walgreens hanger can't be beat. Someone in another thread mentioned the Target suit hangers, which I've not tried, but on inspection looked good. They're a more traditional shape and size, however. The Ikea 'Boomerang' hangers are great for shirts and such while their suit hangers are outstanding for outerwear, nice wide shoulders.

One of these days I might break down and buy an Oxxford hanger or two if I sense my Oxxfords feeling deprived.

As long as money can still be used to buy wine, I will not spend any of it on branded hangers.

For a real ebony hanger (horribly wasteful IMHO)

you'd have to add a zero to the Oxxford price. (That's an "ebony" finish on those, boys)
