When I button the top placket of my new cardigan, it flares out a bit - is this an indicator of it being a size too small for me?

I still can't tell from this photo whether the cardigan fits you. Please post another photo showing your whole torso from the front. Not a selfie.

It does look small on you, yes. I think a cardigan should be a little relaxed, never tight.

Would you all say the main place it's too small is my abdomen? I am trying to actively lose weight, especially there. It's not uncomfortable, so if that's the only place I might stick with it.

Your chest and abdomen, yes. The garment lacks any drape. Also, I’ll assume you plan on wearing it over a proper shirt and not a t-shirt. That will add further bulk and will make it even tighter.

keep it if you want and perhaps that will act as some incentive to drop a few pounds. Good luck.

if you are actively losing, then keep it. if you are thinking about losing, then exchange it
