Is this an acceptable shoe with a gray suit?

I have some conventional brown shoes (wingtip & other) but I can't wear them too often or I have to throw them out [IMG]

Advisable with grey suit or not the right style?

Assuming shoes are of at least decent quality, and that you take proper care of them, it wouldn't be unusual to get many years - several decades, even - of use out of them before they have to be thrown out.

Although even if this weren't so, I still wouldn't recommend wearing those awful slip-ons with a grey suit.

Arguably TMI but my shoes smell after awhile. And I wear them 2X a week at most, others only 1X a week.

As already mentioned here I would definitely NOT wear those shoe with a suit ( not even with a sport coat or blazer) as they are way too casual. Additionally, not a big fan of the brand of the shoes either. Which could be the reason as to why you're having foot odor issues. The inner of the shoes is most likely synthetic and the sole might be rubber or synthetic as well. This kind of material and construction can tend to not let the foot breathe. Which can cause your feet to sweat more.

If I were you I would look to pick up a pair of Allen Edmonds or Alden Oxford and shoes tree as well. Both will help with the foot odor and as a bonus look much better with your suit.

Sorry to say so but NOT acceptable for suiting.
Get a classic black captoe oxford like already suggested. You can use it for almost any occasion.

Unless you're a lawyer or Wall Street banker, brown is fine with grey suits, very Continental. But not those shoes. A nice pair of monks or Oxfords in brown calfskin would be fine.

Brown is perfectly fine with grey.

It is not so much the color rather the style of shoes that is the issue. Slip-on really hurt the look of a suit and should be saved for jeans.

Those shoes are awful in every way. Oxfords, derbies or Chelseas depending on the setting would work better. Even monks as others have suggested.

Playing on words, your shoes got a Kenneth Cole level reaction.

Allen Edmonds just started their Black Friday sale, and numerous $200 suit-capable shoes. Expect Johnston and Murphy to follow in the $100 range. I have their conards, and aren't terrible for the $85 that I paid, but they are disposable shoes.
