is this alteration job worth the trouble?

heres the deal guys: my dad works as a contractor for a big company and he oversees and plans several stores like banana republic, gap and overstock stores such as tj maxx and ross. he always brings me home bad articles of clothing. however, i have some levis "silverTab straight loose" white jeans. the fit on them is terrible but i'd love to have a pair of well fitting white jeans, especially with spring quickly on its way. it wouldn't cost too much to get these tailored, but is it worth the trouble? here are some fit pics pre-alteration. the waist is fine and so are the hips, i'd need to get inches taken off from the thigh down though in order to get the ideal fit.

it'd only cost a song. they're levis which is atleast decent quality, and it wouldn't be hard to completely change the fit to something similar to my APC ns's.

completely totally not worth it. There is no way in hell a fit that unflattering can get close to an apc NS. HOWEVER levis are making the new 501 in white. Why not get a pair of those and if needed get a little altering on them? still ends up inexpensive

i think they look like that because i'm a skinny guy (that needs to wear skinny jeans) and these are quite baggy.

the denim itself though is fine, i feel like a good tailor can make these fit very well.

ah well it probably isn't worth it anyway if i can find a good pair of slim white jeans ;/

I would just buy heans that fit you. Levi's aren't even really expensive either. Not worth the hassle and you don't know how well the alteration will turn out.

It's not worth it at all, it's not like you just need a slight taper from the knee down or something along those lines they need too much altering... The fit is completely terrible.

From your responses it seems that you are trying to convince yourself that it's worth it, so i guess do what you want.

ditto with what everyone else said, its too big of a job, ur basically wanting to turn them into a completely different cut which won't be cheap and more importantly, u better kno a really good tailor since its not just altering the hem.
and they're just another pair of levis, save urself the money and just wait for summer till other brands release white denim, acne makes good fitting ones

I do my own alterations, and would probably be the most likely to tell you to do it since I'm cheap....but I don't see that working.

You could easily have the legs slimmed up, but I think the topblock of the pant is too baggy. Too much would have to be taken out there, meaning it would either have to be reconstructed (which costs a lot), or it would not match up with the slimmer legs.

I'd sell these and pick up something else that's closer to what you want.
