Is this a common practice at menswear stores?

A local menswear store I know (not a chain) has a bit of a strange practice. They have a big blowout sale every 6 months... and the unsold stuff just goes back to full price the next day. Is this common? It's almost deceptive. I saw a bunch of Hugo Boss suits from last year for $199 as a door-crasher, and the next day it was full price again mixed in with the current collection.

Unusual or not?

Next day seems odd. I've just known them to have their massive 80% off sales, then what doesn't sell goes into storage until the season is appropriate again, at full price of course.

I think this is probably a purely business decision where the store is normally expecting low sales, so they have a sale to pad revenues.

I have seen stores do this. For three months that suit was on clearance for $65, then all of the sudden back to full price.

I've seen this in small boutique shops. I once bought a suit on deep discount at the end of one season, and saw the same leftover suits back at full price for the next season.
