Is there an upper limit to the amount of cuff one can show and still look good?

0.5" is my preferred. 1" at most, and even that's pushing it (imo).

This may be a dumb question, but when shortening from the cuff end, does the whole part with the working buttons have to be cut off, or can't the sleeves just be shortened the needed amount?

(As I understand it, you don't mind losing the working buttons; can't the opening parts of the sleeve (the part that aren't cut off) be sewn back up and the buttons placed were appropriate? Or will that be too expensive to do?)

Ah, yes - the button holes, I didn't think about those

Kinda strange that they finish a jacket with working buttons, when it's that hard to modify...

To answer your original question: I think that showing 2" of cuff makes the jacket sleeves look too short.

Depends, for very formal occasions I think its ok to some some more cuff but for general business wear I'd say 1" is the limit.

There is usually a buffer, they make the working cuffs with like 2 inches from the button to the end of the cuff, which gives you a bit to work with.

i dont really like anymore then 1/2" and prefer to go with 1/4"-1/2". if i go with a 1/4" i find myself adjusting my sleeves alot and its annoying.
